[edit]I believe that it would be safe to assume that it's possible that good faith assumptions are no longer being used based on the last unsigned post. Greenreader7 (talk) 15:32, 20 October 2009 (UTC)
Inspection of the State of Illinois records show Baldwin to be the sole member and investor in the broker-dealer. all posts are supposed to be signed.

FINRA records state that neither Baldwin nor CMG had any malfeasance or duplicity and that no investors were harmed. How does that equate him to Bernie Madoff who stole billions?

First, it is a fact that Baldwin was the sole investor in CMG and that FINRA documents already posted state that no investors were harmed. Therefore, who is the alleged partner in jail? I find it most unsettling that certain individuals have taken to utilizing a public medium to settle an obvious vendetta.
Below please find numerous references which support the fact that Baldwin has always and continues to possess relevancy, acumen and traction in the financial industry.
A.CNBC obviously thinks Baldwin is relevant as they have asked his opinion post FINRA proceedings and had him on air. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zkdb5SaaX5Q
B. Mike Milken contrary to the article in Financial Week knows him and had him speak at the Milken conference in April of 2009.
Milken Institute Global Conference Islamic Finance panel http://www.milkeninstitute.org/events/gcprogram.taf?function=detail&EvID=1574&eventid=GC09
C. Baldwin's national magazine articles and interviews with people like Professor Chris Geczy of Wharton Wealth Management Initiative are relevant and insightful.
D. He recently spoke with the head of investment banking at Goldman Sachs at an invite only conference-that is very relevant. Goldman Sachs is the most profitable investment bank.

CMG was owned completely by Baldwin according to the State of Illinois records. There is no record for the claims of investors by Trader 999. The following link shows Baldwin to be the sole member and investor.

Isn't it true that Mr. Baldwin and CMG had no individual investors and it was a sole member LLC? Who was defrauded? Investing In Truth —Preceding unsigned comment added by Investing In Truth (talk • contribs) 01:12, 18 October 2009 (UTC)
Baldwin is still undergoing his third proceeding appeal. He could have participated during this period per FINRA rules but decided to cease all operations in December of 2005. The bar and expulsion was later changed to a suspension per FINRA records. While these matters are uder appeal the member can participate Baldwin but decided not to per comments found in the proceedings. http://www.finra.org/web/groups/industry/@ip/@enf/@da/documents/disciplinaryactions/p119808.pdf Per a Black Enterprise article Baldwin purchased an offshore Hedge fund in 2002. http://www.thefreelibrary.com/On+the+fast+track:+Shawn+Baldwin+is+building+a+financial+services...-a084212955
Baldwin clearly is relevant and has been a speaker as a finance expert at the Milken Global conference on CNBC. Those occurred after these proceedings. Baldwin has never stated anything on race. The citings from top magazines are clearly credible. Investment Dealers Digest named him a top 40 investment banker which is probably why Blackberry chose him. Investment Dealers Digest is an industry expert and $60 Billion dollars of deals is relevant.

This article was clearly written by Shawn Baldwin himself. It's all junk! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 38.106.170.58 (talk • contribs) 16:30, 7 October 2009 (UTC)
How can you say that articles in Fortune and Money magazine are crap? Are the links to CNBC fake? Baldwin didn't write those articles and he clearly is a significant person. All of these unsigned posts sound like they are from a bitter girlfriend or a disgruntled employee. If you are remotely literate you can read the multiple articles on Baldwin and CMG. Black Enterprise named him one of the Top 75 Blacks on Wall Street per Britannica

I didn't see Trader999 on the list..he must be jealous and thats why he is so emotional in his comments. The other possibility is that it's a woman judging the way Trader999 gets sooo excited.. Historylover9 (talk) 00:34, 18 October 2009 (UTC)
- I've just had a look over this, and I agree that much of it needs significant rewriting from a neutral point of view, particularly the section on his dealings with FINRA. Scog (talk) 19:51, 8 October 2009 (UTC)
Edited the FINRA section to reflect more balanced perspective. Also, as the original poster of this article I want to point out that I reviewed information from Fortune, Business Week and the FINRA proceedings themselves. Any disputation of the facts in this article is founded in an ignorance of the actual facts. I acknowledge that I need to make changes to the tone to reflect a more balanced perspective, adjustments pending.Spreadneck (talk) 18:53, 17 October 2009 (UTC)
Which partner went to jail? I can't find that in any of my searches. Name the partner and cite a reference-Trader 999's story seems to be lacking in references and full of holes. Trader 999 also seems to be POV pushing with zero levels of factual refernces. I suspect that Trader 999 is puppet-socking as well. The only joke is the lack of references and that Trader 999 doesn't think anyone can see the angry agenda. The comments from Trader 999 are as long as ther article that's the real joke! Unsourced additions
[edit]October 2009
[edit]I've reverted the unsourced changes made to this article per WP:BLP. Negative information about Baldwin getting expelled from FINRA multiple times must be sourced to a reliable source. Also, per Wikipedia:BLP#Privacy of personal information, do not re-add the subject's birthdate without a reliable source. Thanks, Cunard (talk) 02:36, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
These sources were added to the article by Historylover9 (talk · contribs).
13. SEC Arhttp:Page 16 http://www.sec.gov/litigation/opinions/2009/34-59325.pdf

15.RRBD Broke and Broker http://www.rrbdlaw.com/RegulatoryLinks/CASESOFNOTE/NASD/2009.htm
Having reviewed the sources, I don't think they are reliable enough to source information in a BLP. The first source does provide information about CMG getting expelled and Baldwin getting barred, but it is not a third-party source. It verifies the information, but I'm not sure if it is good enough for a BLP. The second source, a blog, and the third source, a collection of notices, are not reliable sources. [edit]16. I am interested in posting information regarding Baldwin's legal troubles. The following article references the fact that he had a partial judgement for over $100k from one creditor http://www.financialweek.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070611/REG/70607004/-1/FWIssueAlert01 and further review of court records 1) https://w3.courtlink.lexisnexis.com/cookcounty/FindDock.asp?NCase=&SearchType=2&Database=1&case_no=&Year=&div=&caseno=&PLtype=2&sname=Shawn+Baldwin&CDate= 2)https://w3.courtlink.lexisnexis.com/cookcounty/FindDock.asp?NCase=&SearchType=2&Database=2&case_no=&Year=&div=&caseno=&PLtype=2&sname=Shawn+Baldwin&CDate= 3)https://w3.courtlink.lexisnexis.com/cookcounty/FindDock.asp?NCase=&SearchType=2&Database=3&case_no=&Year=&div=&caseno=&PLtype=2&sname=Shawn+Baldwin&CDate= 4)https://w3.courtlink.lexisnexis.com/cookcounty/FindDock.asp?NCase=&SearchType=2&Database=4&case_no=&Year=&div=&caseno=&PLtype=2&sname=Shawn+Baldwin&CDate= demonstrate over $1.5 million in judgements, a foreclosure proceeding and a paternity suit. Please let me know how I should go about sourcing this information for inclusion in the wiki text. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Truthseeker900 (talk • contribs) 22:43, 15 May 2011 (UTC)
- The third paragraph of Shawn Baldwin#Professional career details Shawn Baldwin's legal troubles. As I wrote on your talk page:
Only when you locate such sources can this information be added to the article. Cunard (talk) 23:01, 15 May 2011 (UTC)Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons#Misuse of primary sources prohibits the use of court records as sources. Only tertiary sources such as reputable newspapers, magazines, and books may be used to source negative or contentious information about a living person.
The 3 financial lawsuits are tied to Baldwin but sets of them seem to be tied to his wife. the last paternity suit isn't to Shawn D. Baldwin the subject of the article--it is another Shawn baldwin with another address. This baldwin has 4 children and no outside paternity suits. Baldwin didn't live in Chicago in 1995 he was still in Ohio.

Please assist with the proper formatting of a Wall Street Journal article in which Baldwin is quoted. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Historylover9 (talk • contribs) 18:31, 29 May 2011 (UTC)
- I have formatted The Wall Street Journal articles per your request. Cunard (talk) 01:43, 30 May 2011 (UTC)
Did Baldwin found Capital Management Group?
[edit]What should be done when the sources contradict each other? This source says he founded Capital Management Group, while this one says he purchased Capital Management Group. Both sources are from Money Magazine, so this discrepancy is very confusing. Cunard (talk) 02:47, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
Baldwin founded Capital Management Group an LLC in Illinois then acquired a broker-dealer in Atlanta called MuniDirect per Black Enterprise and NV magazine articles. He also acquired an offshore entity. Records show that the broker-dealer was renamed CMG Institutional Trading LLC and it was folded into the holdings of Capital Management Group. Historylover9 (talk) 17:29, 28 May 2011 (UTC)
- Thank you for the explanation. Would you revise the article to reflection your above explanation? Please also add citations for any revisions you make. I will format the references if you need any help. Cunard (talk) 01:45, 30 May 2011 (UTC)
