Undatable John

[edit]

Just wanted to @HalJor: to let them know that a new citation would be needed to support that Undatable John was released in 2019. When I did a web search, I could only find information about Doherty being cast in the film back in 2013, but I could not find a news article about the film being released in 2019. Do you know if there is a better citation to support this release date? Thank you. Aoba47 (talk) 20:34, 21 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I know that IMDB is not a reliable source but it does have a release date, 77 ratings, and 3 user reviews here. Rotten Tomatoes has a 2019 release date for the film (on her filmography page) but no link to the film itself. My best guess is that it was released, or at least is no longer "TBA", since it appears that at least a few people have seen it. I'll tag it as needing a citation as you noted. HalJor (talk) 21:19, 21 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@HalJor: Thank you for the response. You are right that IMDb would not be an appropriate source. Doherty's profile on Rotten Tomatoes may be a good source to cite this information, but what are your thoughts about that? Thank you for updating this as this list should be as accurate as possible. What likely happened was that this film was released without any fanfare or press releases. There is this tweet from Joan Jett about it, but that is also less than an ideal source for it. I will do some further digging as I would obviously prefer to keep a featured list as up-to-date as possible. Aoba47 (talk) 21:57, 21 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I was able to find this 2019 article from Screen Rant which mentions that the film would be released soon, but that is likely too vague. Aoba47 (talk) 22:00, 21 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I'm still not finding actual sources for its release date, but I am finding it available on various streaming services like Amazon, Vudu, and Apple TV. I can't use those as valid references either, but it does support that the film has been released at some point. HalJor (talk) 00:31, 22 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@HalJor: Thank you for the response. I can understand why commercial sites should not be used in list (or for this purpose in general on Wikipedia) so thank you for clearly saying so in the edit summary. They do support that the film was released at some point. The film itself could always be cited as a primary source, but I would ideally like to find a better citation to firmly establish that the film was released in 2019 as I do not fully trust commercial sites to 100% accurate with release dates like these. I think the films like this (i.e. ones that were seemingly delayed and put out without any real coverage) would be difficult to cite on Wikipedia. Aoba47 (talk) 03:14, 22 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Does this article by Billboard help? --PanagiotisZois (talk) 16:26, 22 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@PanagiotisZois: Thank you for finding the source. That does help a lot. I believe two references should be used for this entry (one confirming Doherty is a part of the film and a second confirming the 2019 release date). I cannot edit the list right this second (as I have to go into work) but I will do so later tonight. Aoba47 (talk) 17:57, 22 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
