Transgender

[edit]

Being transgender isn't a sexual orientation. So either that content should be removed from this article, or the title/subject of the article should be broadened to 'LGBT people and the ADF' or similar. Boneymau (talk) 23:49, 17 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

That title would work better IMO - the current formulation is rather awkward. How about LGBTI people in the Australian military per the Women in the Australian military precedent? (using ADF is slightly misleading in this context as it covers the period before the military was designated the ADF in the mid 1970s). Nick-D (talk) 07:17, 18 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I'd support that, although without wanting to get into acronym wars other WP articles generally use LGBT. Boneymau (talk) 01:38, 27 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I'd suggest Sexual orientation and gender identity in the Australian military. This is consistent with Sexual orientation and gender identity in the United States military, and as per Nick-D includes the timeframe before the Au military was known as the ADF. That's an even better suggestion, and thanks for moving the article to it. Nick-D (talk) 00:30, 9 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Cheers, you're welcome :) Goldcactus (talk) 06:13, 10 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
