Opera type

[edit]

is this school related to Cantonese opera or Peking opera? Zzzzz 22:14, 7 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed Merge

[edit]

The Seven Little Fortunes article basically contains a trimmed down version of the information from the Peking Opera School article. If Seven Little Fortunes were to become a sub-section of the Peking Opera School article, we'd have one slightly stronger article rather than two slightly weaker, overlapping ones.

I believe that if any additional information is found that can improve the Seven Little Fortunes article, it would be equally beneficial and relevant in the Peking Opera School article, so why have separate, but substantially similar, articles? It seems unlikely that some specific information about the Seven Little Fortunes would not also be of interest in the other article.

I therefore propose that the two articles be merged, with the narrower subject, Seven Little Fortunes, being absorbed into the wider-ranging subject, Peking Opera School, as a sub-section of that article. Gram123 (talk) 16:23, 17 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

    • No comments were made on either talk page regarding the proposed move, so I've gone ahead and completed it. The Seven Little Fortunes article is now just a redirect to the Peking Opera School article. I will now fix any links to the old article. Gram123 (talk) 14:47, 26 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Erroneous information, possibly self-promotional article

[edit]

This article seems to promote people from Hong Kong which are of some notability but valid references as to their having undergone traditional Peking opera training and publicly performed Peking opera are yet to be brought forth. For example, can we find but one instance of Jackie Chan performing Peking opera in character? Indeed this article should perhaps, more appropriately, be entitled Hong Kong Drama School. In any case, valid references from non-Cantonese sources should definitely be sought after. What is more, the core of Peking opera authorities being in Beijing, we must without question have their corroboration, through references from Beijing, of the facts mentioned in this article.Iswearius (talk) 05:34, 9 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
