Reason of the jail sentence
[edit]In the article it is stated that he was jailed after criticizing the government. While this is true, his charges are unrelated to the criticism. As it stands the sentence makes it look like he was sentenced for the criticism. OganM (talk) 01:58, 30 May 2016 (UTC)
Conflict of interest
[edit]The main author for this page is the subject of the article himself. He has also reverted all changes made to make the article more encyclopedic, and has added on top of it external links to his social media pages and a lede description that describes himself as a "dismantler of official history" and "Turkey's conscience". - Ithinkicahn (talk · contribs) Nisanyan has been locked in his jail cell for quite some time now. Does he even have access to a computer in a Turkish state prison? I think we should familiarize ourselves with that. But personally, I wouldn't think he does. This user sounds more like of a fan of his rather than Sevan Nisanyan himself. - Good point, that actually came to mind as well, but I don't understand the account's edits; they seem to be counterproductive. I do think he's a notable subject, but the user has reverted all cleanup efforts. Ithinkicahn (talk) 17:36, 10 August 2014 (UTC)
- Whoever Nisanyan8 is, he is a single article editor. The article is very un-encyclopaedic in its tone and wording. I have added a single source to the article, and so have been able to remove that unsourced blp deletion tag that some over-zealous editor could have used as a reason to delete the whole article. There are so many sources out there that the article could easily have multiple citations, but not with its present wording. Tiptoethrutheminefield (talk) 19:20, 10 August 2014 (UTC)
- Nisanyan8 creates the article and gives it the title Sevan Nişanyan, someone moves it to Sevan Nisanyan, someone returns it to Sevan Nişanyan, but Nisanyan8 moves it back to Sevan Nisanyan! Tiptoethrutheminefield (talk) 19:16, 11 August 2014 (UTC)

Nationality
[edit]Shouldn't it be Turkish rather than Armenian since he is a Turkish citizen? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.171.234.107 (talk) 15:24, 23 April 2016 (UTC)
Linguist ?
[edit]Will he be a linguist when he writes a book with no scientific value and full of rough mistakes? He also never studied linguistics. 88.226.108.150 (talk) 20:38, 7 May 2020 (UTC)

Sevan Nishanyan vs. Sevan Nişanyan
[edit]It doesn't make sense to change the title of the page just because "ş" is not found in English keyboards. "Sevan Nişanyan" is his legal and the most-frequently used name. He is obviously largely unknown outside of his audience from Turkey, so this move doesn't serve a clear purpose. The typical surnames of Armenians living in the English-speaking world almost always end with -ian instead of -yan, so the current state of the title bears elements from two languages.
