Deletion

[edit]

I have searched extensively both online and other documents, I can not find no record of this species being described. Simuliid talk 05:48, 26 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Then use the appropriate deletion procedure. Speedy deletion via WP:A7 is obviously inappropriate. Phil Bridger (talk) 08:48, 26 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Unhelpful! What is the appropriate deletion procedure? It may be obvious to you, but not to me. I did spend a good deal of time reading the deletion process before rasing this, and it seemed the most obvious having read themSimuliid talk 09:06, 26 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The deletion procedure is described at WP:AFD. Most people use WP:TWINKLE to nominate articles for deletion, but I don't use it myself so can't advise you about its workings. Phil Bridger (talk) 09:11, 26 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your help. I did use TWINKLE, it only offers me Speedy deletion. In researching deletion, to paraphrase somewhat, it was to use a long-winded process, editing pages a mere mortal can't understand or "just use twinkle"
WP:AFD is helpful, thanks. However, I read many other pages that also cover deletion.
I have been on here a long time and done a good many edits. I like to think I know some areas very well, and other not at all - deletion being one of them. I did strongly suspect that I would be pulled up on something here, as it was the first deletion request. But was hoping for helpful guidance. Which you have now given me.
Like all editors. I make mistakes and I get picked up on them. But I do get angry if it in the form off a telling off, with no help. I see some editors will delete an entire edit, done in good faith, when they could have just corrected the typo, misspelling, or politely as the editor to add a reference etc. I correct other editors, but I like to assume good faith and be helpful.Simuliid talk 09:53, 26 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
You forfeited the assumption of good faith by edit-warring rather than talking. I am willing to be helpful to anyone, but only after they have stopped edit-warring. Phil Bridger (talk) 12:58, 3 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
