Birthplace

[edit]

I've provided two reliable sources, that his birthplace is Donauwörth, West Germany. One is a regional newspaper that wrote an article about him mainly because he was born there. So just reverting to a different source without giving some explanation why the sources I provided are wrong, is not acceptable. I will revert your edit without it. --Jaellee (talk) 08:06, 8 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

He may have grown up there, but Turkish Football Federation's official website is surely the most reliable source, and it states that he was born in Ankara. --Bobcats 23 (talk) 04:32, 9 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
The official website of the Major League Soccer also says that Güvenışık's birthplace is Donauwörth. Why should the Turkish Football Federation be more reliable than that? --Jaellee (talk) 22:22, 9 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Because he's a Turkish national who has actually played for Turkey. --Bobcats 23 (talk) 01:03, 10 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
He also actually played in the Major League Soccer, so they should know. And he played only for Turkish junior national teams, so who knows how reliable that is. --Jaellee (talk) 09:43, 10 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
He played in Turkey too, what are you trying to get at? His birthplace is Ankara according to San Jose Earthquakes' official website as well. --Bobcats 23 (talk) 12:04, 11 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I'm just saying that the data for player that made appearances in the senior national team might be checked more thoroughly than for a player who made on a few appearances for youth teams. But nevertheless, there are reliable sources with list different birthplaces and short of asking Güvenışık this will be difficult to decide which ones are "more" reliable. --Jaellee (talk) 11:39, 13 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Look, here we have an association that has the official document. One does not simply misspell "Donauwörth" as "Ankara", you can't just assume they haven't checked that thoroughly without having any source to back you up about that. If you look at the profiles of Tolgay Arslan, Deniz Hümmet, Ferhat Bıkmaz as examples among many others, you can see that they're Turkish nationals who has played for Turkey only at junior levels just like this guy, and their birthplaces are given as places outside of Turkey. Why? Well, because they were born outside of Turkey, in those places. I don't have much to say about this discussion anymore. --Bobcats 23 (talk) 17:24, 16 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
