Did it (illogically) maintain the name Septennial Act 1715 even after the 7 years became 5, or was it renamed Quinquennial perhaps? (I only ask because it seems the name Septennial replaced Triennial).LaFoiblesse 18:17 2008-06-11 (GMT)

The current name of the Act is the Septennial Act 1715 as shown at the UK Statue Law Database. This short title was introduced by the Short Titles Act 1896. Before this date it would have been known officially by its long title, "An Act for enlarging the Time of Continuance of Parliaments, appointed by an Act made in the Sixth Year of the Reign of King William and Queen Mary, intituled An Act for the frequent meeting and calling of Parliaments".
