Tesa
[edit]I would say, Europe's best-known brand of tape is not Sellotape, but tesa. --Abdull 21:57, 17 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- So well known that there is no "tesa" article, it forwards to "semen analysis". I have lived and travelled around Europe all my life, and I have never heard of "tesa". Most people call it sellotape. 82.152.221.20 (talk) 18:15, 25 April 2009 (UTC)
- A quick Google search turns up http://www.tesa.co.uk - it claims to be "one of the leading brands". --McGeddon (talk) 18:46, 25 April 2009 (UTC)
US English Usage?
[edit]From the article "Many Americans refer to Scotch tape as Sellotape, because the brand is universally recognized as a pseudonym for clear tape." Glad this is pointed out as needing a source, as I can find nothing, and anectodally have never heard of this use. "Cellotape" rings a vague bell, but no better than that. Think it needs to be tossed unless a good reference can be provided. --shoobe01 20 May 2010 —Preceding undated comment added 13:17, 20 May 2010 (UTC).
Fair use rationale for Image:Sellotape.svg
[edit]Image:Sellotape.svg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Cellotape
[edit]Is it the same as cellotape? It redirects here, but is not mentioned at all. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.39.168.255 (talk) 14:03, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
Cellotape is a common misspelling. In fact, I reached this page by typing cellotape in the address bar! Christopedia (talk) 12:59, 22 October 2008 (UTC)
Contradiction in dates
[edit]"Sellotape was originally manufactured in 1937 by Colin Kinninmonth and George Grey, in Acton, west London. The name was derived from cellophane, at that time a trademarked name, with the "C" changed to "S" so the new name could be trademarked. Sellotape was made at a factory in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, from 1930 to about...."
When was it first made? In 1930 or in 1937?S. Valkemirer (talk) 15:25, 11 January 2023 (UTC)
