Out Run 2006

Should it be listed in all platform listings it's been released for? Or should it be kept in it's current position? Alex 19:36, 7 May 2006 (UTC)

sega-am2.jp

This site has been down for over a year now, so I removed it from the External Links section. 15:44, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

At least there is a archived version by Internet Archive.Junk Police (talk) 07:40, 25 January 2009 (UTC)

Daytona Developer

I'm not sure where to put this, but the Daytona Series' developer is SEGA AM2, not Amusement Vision. I will make sure this is correct on the weekend. Also, a sega fan site also says SEGA AM2 did develop it. 19:10, Febuary 14, 2006

Yes they did, up until Daytona USA 2001 on the Dreamcast. PettrK (talk) 22:47, 28 March 2020 (UTC)

Quarantine has given me bug-all to do, so I'll look over this. Besides, these guys made two of my favorite arcade games, After Burner and Space Harrier. Namcokid47 (Contribs) 01:47, 1 April 2020 (UTC)

@Namcokid47: Sorry to be a bug, but it's been over a month since you put your name down for AM2 and AM3 to get reviews. Any idea when these might happen? Red Phoenix talk 14:58, 4 May 2020 (UTC)

@Red Phoenix: After being a month overdue, here are my comments.

  • Maybe describe what Hang-On is for unfamiliar readers? Something like "Suzuki's next project was the motorcycle racer Hang-On.
  • "Sammy Corporation bought a controlling share in Sega at a cost of $1.1 billion" - this needs a source.
  • I don't know the purpose of the Virtual Cop or F355 Challenge images being here. The reader doesn't need to know what Virtua Cop or F355 are to understand what the article is about.
  • Kikizo is listed as "inconclusive" on WPVG/S, and I don't know how reliable it is. I'd personally replace it with a better one.
  • Is Gamingbolt a reliable publication?

Namcokid47 (Contribs) 15:21, 7 May 2020 (UTC)

@Namcokid47:
  • Added the expanded intro to Hang-On
  • Removed the 1.1 billion, the rest is in the following source. That was actually a good catch - you made me go back and catch that it was under supported and not fully accurate in Sega. I was quite surprised by that.
  • I don't see anything wrong with the additional images - F355 Challenge and Virtua Cop are mentioned in the adjacent paragraphs, and with the exception of the copyrighted logo in the infobox, everything is a free image from Wikimedia Commons. Nothing should have a non-free content issue, and it hardly appears excessive to me, but if you insist, feel free to delete.
  • On Kikizo, most of the citations are actually to interviews. In light of your concerns, though, I went to the ones that aren't and shored them up with additional resources. Studying the "about" page of Kikizo suggests it passes my test for reliability (had a content deal with AOL and they have a whole list of editors who worked on Kikizo and also for RS publications, plenty of them). Especially with the interviews, I don't think they have to be thrown away as unreliable, and I hedged the bet with the rest.
  • Removed Gamingbolt - that wasn't my addition, but the statement really isn't needed anyway.

Should there be a 'List of Games' section like the AV page?

The explanation of the list of games is great, but should there be a list of games section? With how many games AM2 made, it would be a challenge but it's possible. — Preceding unsigned comment added by AaronSkalkaian (talkcontribs) 08:46, 6 April 2020 (UTC)

I don't think that's necessary. Especially for later games, it's unlikely we will have reliable sources that say who developed what for sure. Sources also broadly differ on how early AM2 started, much as I'm absolutely certain it's around 1992 based on Suzuki's comments to a video game magazine in 1995. It might be better incorporated into List of Sega arcade games. AV's page needs totally gutted and redone, anyway; it's on my to-do list when I have time. Red Phoenix talk 13:46, 6 April 2020 (UTC)
The games from 1984-2004 are actually officially listed. https://web.archive.org/web/20040630004045/http://www.sega-am2.co.jp/jp/games/index.html The games afterwards are more difficult. It tends to depend if Sega of Japan wants to advertise one of their games as made by AM2, I have noticed.OtopNr.3 (talk) 15:38, 6 April 2020 (UTC)
I'll actually tuck that in as an external link ;) . Red Phoenix talk 02:29, 9 April 2020 (UTC)
