the oath
[edit]The section about the oath is false cause in the greek discussion page it was proved that this didnt exist and the article changed 85.74.154.101 (talk) 21:22, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
- There is no prove that the oath did not existed. There are citations claiming that Rallys ( the Quisling Prime Minister) refused - during talks with the German High Command to accept an oath to Adolf Hilter. But this is not a proof that it wasn't the oath finally like this.
- Furthermore, the use of the SB as local units of the NAZI occupation forces at any time against the resistance proves the opposite.
i dont disagree that SB were nazi colaborators and trators, but there is also no prove that the oath existed or it was used...Also citations claiming that wasn't Rallis who refused to accept the oath but royalists and other officers who used to support Venizelos ... The Oath (pov tag)
[edit]I have tagged this article as POV because of the lead.
Although not recognized by right-winged resources, there are various references pointing out that Security Battalion recruits were under the following oath:
I first object to the term "right-winged resources". This is a plain POV. I'm sure that the left in Greece has NEVER cooperated with a communist government (ha!)... but in any case, this POV about the current state of Greek politics has very little to do with the actions of Greek Collaborators almost 70 years ago. I'm therefore going to remove it without some very firm objections. Hitler was evil... but Wikipedia's mission is to talk about his actions... and the reader can decide. The same is true about the Security Battalions. V. Joe (talk) 04:05, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
The wording "Following to uncertain references" isn't good English in any case. I suggest the following wording: "Members of the Security Battalions were required to swear an oath. The wording has not been confirmed. According to some left wing sources the German authorities wished recruits to swear the following oath...However Greek Prime Minister Rallis was opposed to....and wanted a different oath. Research has not yet established what oath was used, if any."
Fixed
[edit]Under the principle of WP:Bold, I have edited objectionable paragraph to read
Recruits to the Security battalion were under the following oath:

More POV addressed
[edit]It is not known if this was finally taken into account or it was just a "political" flare of the puppet PM.
I have removed that paragraph and replaced it with "It is unknown whether Rallis' views were taken into account by German officiaals." Not great... but a vast improvement over loaded language of previous version. V. Joe (talk) 04:12, 17 March 2009 (UTC) "
POV tag replaced
[edit]I think that the entire article needs a substantial rewrite and don't have time to address it myself. Please consider rewriting it with an expert attention. As written the article reads as a lecture against collaboratism. (which I happen to agree with the articles POV)... However... the tone is rather too strident to be exactly neutral... and also uses very loaded language. Cheers V. Joe (talk) 04:15, 17 March 2009 (UTC) It is unknown whether Rallis' views were taken into account by German officials.
