Reason for move
[edit]This is not an entity separate from Venezuela with which it can be confused; it is just one of the historical republics of Venezuela, and so the parantheses-style disambiguation is inappropriate. See French Fifth Republic etc.--Pharos 03:05, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
- The article is about an historical state in Venezuela, which needs to be disambiguated from the current republic. It is not an integral part of a serialized account of the history of Venezuela, which the case with articles like Fifth Republic of South Korea or French Fifth Republic. See Roman Republic (18th century), etc. -- Domino theory 18:14, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
- Actually, Pharos is correct. Venezuelan historiography does "serialize" it's history (to use Domino theory's words), and the current state of Venezuela recognizes its origins in the 1811 state, and Bolívar claimed to be restoring the Venezuelan republic, not creating a new one. Historians later applied the term "second." The above analogy between the ancient Roman Republic and the 18th-century one is wrong. In the Venezuelan case, the governments fell and were reestablished because they were in the throes of a war of independence, with stability only arriving after 1830; in the Roman case they are separated by gulf of millennia and vastly different cultural concepts of statehood! United States of Venezuela
[edit]The term "United States of Venezuela" was used for the First Republic of Venezuela and the Second Republic of Venezuela, but it is not mentioned at History of Venezuela. So where (if anywhere) should the redirect United States of Venezuela be targeted? Please contribute to the discussion at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2014 October 26#United States of Venezuela. Thanks, Thryduulf (talk) 10:50, 26 October 2014 (UTC)
