Yes, I know it's confusing. The general at the battle was Calles. But he was fighting "for" general Carranza. The battle, which Calles won helped establish Carranza's control of North Mexico and eventually become president. BUT, a few years after this battle, Calles broke with Carranza and fought alongside Obregon (who was also active in this region during this battle, on Carranza's side) against him, and ultimately became president himself.
What makes writing about Mexican Revolution difficult is that the alliances and factions changed so much so you're always trying to keep in mind who was with who and against whom (except for the Zapatistas who remained RELATIVELY stable, which is why I started my mini-Mex Rev project with them). So I think it is important to clarify in the lede that at the time this battle occured Calles was fighting for Carranza, not against him.radek (talk) 19:45, 4 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
