Tone
[edit]This page doesn't seem like an encyclopaedia article to me. I'm still trying to pinpoint what exactly bothers me about it, and so far I've come up with:
- The tone of the article seems (to me anyway) like it was written by someone close to the subject, or at least someone who takes an interest in portraying the subject in a flattering light.
- The article relies heavily on a "who's who" list of all the actors and directors with whom the subject has worked. Many times throughout the article these various people and their projects are described with glowing, opinion-based adjectives such as "1998's beloved Noddy," "such legendary directors as..." and "join the ranks of such celebrated performers as..." In the first paragraph of the "Notable roles and awards" section, we find a list of more famous performers with whom the subject has worked, and the overall effect is that it seems more like a résumé than an encyclopaedia article.
- The line "Though he lost, and his showing in that race confirmed acting as his primary metier, it did not dampen his conviction that politicians and political institutions are accountable to the masses" is unsourced and seems like it was written as PR for a failed political campaign.
- "McCann began his adult life with a singular devoutness uncommon to actors of his peer group." Again, this seems less like a neutral POV biography and more like what one would say before giving the subject a lifetime achievement award.
- There are only three sources or citations for this article; all are related to the subject's appearance on The Baxters. The rest of the article is unsourced.
