Hangon request
[edit]I'm not the author of this article, but I would like to contest its speedy deletion. A scrunchie (spelt with an "r") is what this article is talking about, and while it definitely needs cleanup (which I'm willing to do), it is a very viable article about an everyday hair fastening elastic. It does indeed pass the google test, if you take a look at the results for "scrunchie" and "scrunchy" [1] [2]. I could certainly get a picture of one of mine, and I can tell you that at the very least it's not nonsense but perhaps just something the tagger hasn't heard of (male, perhaps?)
At any rate, I ask that this article not be deleted until I can take some time to clean it up. Thanks! —Keakealani 06:24, 26 November 2006 (UTC)
- Did you even read what was written? I just removed ALL of the nonsense...celebrities who wear them, faked quotes, Amazon women with them in their armpit hair for its origin, definition (WP is not a dictionary). Ta-da. One usable sentence. Thus, db-nonsense. This should also probably be genericized to "hair band" or something. ju66l3r 06:28, 26 November 2006 (UTC)
- I was originally an advocate of db-nonsenseing this, but when I found out wikipedia has no article on scrunchies I decided writing something usable would be better. A stub is better than nothing. --Alynna 06:32, 26 November 2006 (UTC)
Anyone care to post some history of the scrunchie and the popularity in the 80s? I don't know much about it. 69.29.210.124 08:02, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

- Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. NiciVampireHeart 11:32, 13 October 2019 (UTC)

I added information about the history of the scrunchie, its rise and fall in popularity from the 1980s to present day, and about the variations and types of scrunchies and where to buy them. Here is a link to my sandbox with a draft for it.

The woman who patented the original Scrunchie was Rommy Revson, NOT Ronnie Revson. Please change 'Ronnie' to 'Rommy' This is well-documented. 58.162.181.28 (talk) 04:36, 11 February 2020 (UTC)
Source for Philip E. Meyers
[edit]Is there a reputable source for Philip E. Meyers inventing the scrunchie? I just see articles quoting Wikipedia which quotes this archived article that doesn't even get the date of the patent right. And not just inventing it but naming it for a family bearing the name “Scrunci”? Really? This seems like false information. 185.25.194.125 (talk) 13:19, 11 February 2020 (UTC)
- I have removed this sentence, the cited source was as you say clearly paraphrasing our Wikipedia article from that time (where it was already marked with "citation needed"). – Thjarkur (talk) 16:27, 11 February 2020 (UTC)

I've tried to google sales but kept getting smacked in the face by paywalls for research white papers in the range of $3000... anyone at Wiki HQ have access to such white papers?

[edit]Hey, @Marimilan, let's discuss. I felt this was pretty trivial. Valereee (talk) 18:29, 5 May 2023 (UTC)
