Highlands and Islands map

[edit]

The map of the Highlands and Islands region is wrong: the Isle of Arran is part of the West of Scotland region (correct on that map), it's not part of Highlands and Island. Mtcv 14:18, 4 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A year later, this is still the case, are the H&I's desperate to hang on to all those wooly jumpers? Thecrystalcicero (talk) 18:31, 8 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Split article?

[edit]

I am thinking we should split the article to create a series similar to that which opens with 'overview' article Scottish Westminster constituencies.
Scottish Parliament constituencies and regions would become the overview, followed by Scottish Parliament constituencies and regions 1999 to 2011 and Scottish Parliament constituencies and regions from 2011. Lists now in Scottish Parliament constituencies and regions, would appear in Scottish Parliament constituencies and regions 1999 to 2011, and details of the current boundary commission review would be in the from 2011 article.

The edit schedule would run as follows:
(1) Create Scottish Parliament constituencies and regions from 2011, referenced as a 'main article' in Scottish Parliament constituencies and regions
(2) Create Scottish Parliament constituencies and regions 1999 to 2011,
(3) Turn Scottish Parliament constituencies and regions into the overview article

Following this schedule (rather than, eg, the reverse) would maintain validity of links to Scottish Parliament constituencies and regions throughout the process.

Now that above split is done I am wondering about what to do with Template:Scottish Parliament. Something modelled on Template:Scottish Westminster constituencies (style 2)?

Lack of reference to origins of regions

[edit]

I am personally more focused on Welsh politics and the Welsh language Wicipedia but have noticed a distinct lack of reference on this page, as well as others about the regions, to the origins of the regions under law. On the comparable page Senedd constituencies and electoral regions, it says clearly that the electoral regions were created from the pre-1999 European Parliament constituencies in Wales. This is also true for the Scottish Parliament, see Schedule 1, 2(2) of the Scotland Act 1998 as originally passed. I just thought I'd raise this if someone would like to add a bit about the regions origins in this article, akin to the mention that the constituencies were created as the Parliamentary constituencies in Scotland.
