AfD: Nominated for deletion; see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Scott Griffith
[edit]The subject of this entry runs a small private company. There is no indication that this person has met Wikipedia standards for notability. For example, there is no indication that he has received a well-known and significant award or honor or has been nominated for one several times. There no indication that the person has made a widely recognized contribution that is part of the enduring historical record in his specific field. Hence, the subject does not meet a single criterion for inclusion in Wikipedia. Thus, this entry is nominated for deletion due to lack of notability. TippTopp 02:16, 6 November 2011 (UTC)
Notability
[edit]Please see the following on Google News to assert his Notability;
- There are a few articles above not about the subject we are concerned, but most of others. Are the above articles not enough to cover his Notability? If so why? Which Wikipedia Policy says exactly how much "Google News" hits a Subject needs to assert his Notability? EconomicTiger (talk) 15:45, 28 May 2012 (UTC)
Ideally, the point of a maintenance template is to help improve the entry, removing it without changes, as you've done, helps no one. There may be a basis for notability, but posting Google searches isn't going to get us there; see WP:GHITS for starters. I haven't had the chance to sort through the searches you've posted, but note that mentions of Griffith in articles primarily about Zipcar do little to establish notability for him. That's why the sheer number of Google hits counts for little. Hairhorn (talk) 17:03, 28 May 2012 (UTC)
