Proposed move?
[edit]WP:Name says "Generally, article naming should prefer what the greatest number of English speakers would most easily recognize, with a reasonable minimum of ambiguity, while at the same time making linking to those articles easy and second nature."
Isn't "Science World" really the most commonly used name for this building? I realize that "Science World at TELUS World of Science" may be its official name, but WP policy suggests that names should be chosen according to use. - TheMightyQuill (talk) 16:43, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
This article had been the showcase article at Portal Vancouver articles on April 2007. The portal has now been changed to rotational status, and as the article was a previous showcase, is again on the portal. Congratulations to all the editors of the article thus far. As is noted on the nomination page .... something to draw attention to articles that are in good shape so that we can get them in better shape, and eventually into great shape. So if someone familiar with this article's content, can promote the article's status that would set the portal in better shape as well as the article. The result of the move request was: page moved. Vegaswikian (talk) 03:21, 15 February 2010 (UTC)
Science World at TELUS World of Science → Science World (Vancouver) — The WP:COMMONNAME is Science World.[1]. Science World at TELUS World of Science is unnecessarily long and the "Telus World of Science" designation does not appear to used regularly. Science World British Columbia would likely be acceptable as well, given that is the name of the organization that manages the centre[2].—Labattblueboy (talk) 21:23, 7 February 2010 (UTC)
Comment I have moved the page to correct the capitalized "TELUS" issue, as that portion of the move is strictly procedural based on the naming guidelines. The preemptive move should not be taken as a comment on the debate over the final name; that will be resolved through the consensus reached in this ongoing move discussion. Please feel free to ask if you have any questions about this. --Ckatzchatspy 23:08, 8 February 2010 (UTC)
