I think this page and the vacancy page could be joint into a single page since physically both deal with exactly the same thing. I'll do it sometime soon unless somebody objects. Of course appropriate redirections should be made. Knordlun (talk) 09:26, 13 December 2009 (UTC)
Do not combine with vacancy
[edit]I recommend keeping this page separate from the vacancy page. A vacancy and a Schottky defect are not truly equivalent. The idea of a Schottky defect only makes sense for crystals with ions while vacancies can occur in any crystal. Vacancies can form in a variety of ways, not only through a Schottky reaction.
