Possible typo?

[edit]

The conclusion of the sentence makes mention of "populace leaders". Should this be "popular leaders", or was it written that way in the original? BigHaz 09:13, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Who is Zuma Rand?

[edit]

"for paying Zuma Rand 1.2 million" is it ok to rewrite this "for paying Zuma 1.2 million Rand" ? In the U.S. we write out the word "dollars" after the amount but put the dollar sign before the amount. When saying it out loud we always say the word "dollars" after the amount, "twelve dollars" even when we have the dollar sign first. Examples: " for paying Bob twelve dollars" "for paying Bob $12". Here we say "twelve dollars" --Gbleem 11:19, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My guess (and this is all it is, I'm not a South African so I don't know), is that it's written that way normally. I have a feeling that I've seen it as "Rand [number]" elsewhere. BigHaz 11:30, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'm South African, and I've never seen that anywhere. I suspect rather that someone wanted to link to the currency. It would be better to write ZAR 1,2 million or R 1,2 million. voyager 12:01, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'm also South African, and no, that is not right. -- Banes 12:26, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

In SA usage this should be R1.2 million, not Rand 1.2 million

No references

[edit]

Ok, why is this article featured, as there are NO footnotes for most of the sections (see First Charge, Second Charge, Third Charge, Squire's Judgement, Fallout, and Appeal). Was this fact overlooked in the decision process? Someone needs to cite the sources for these claims. --Cloudreaver 14:56, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The refrence for "When apartheid ended, many former exiled African National Congress (ANC) leaders returned home to financially ruined lives, such as Jacob Zuma, one of the most important Zulu ANC members." is also incorrect. The source provided only states that Jacob Zuma is an important Zulu ANC member, it doesn't make any claims as to his financial sitution on return after his exile. Also there is allot of material in this article that is both subjective and can be seen as personal opinion. -- WD 07:01, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
I'm sure the sentence "he thought that he needed much more than his salary from that position to make up for the time he spent fighting" is one of the most subjective I've seen on Wiki. I'm no fan of Zuma, but a statement like that really needs a citation.

Corvette fighter planes

[edit]

No, that's not right - should read "corvettes and fighter planes".

--Elio1 15:35, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, it should be just "corvettes" - so I've changed it...
