[edit]This very much reads like an ad. 98.218.150.216 (talk) 04:26, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
"Since 1956, we have been a business with a passion for success." - This whole page is an ad, and statements like this do not belong on Wikipedia.
- I came to this article like a year ago and it was written even more like an ad back then in the history section, with stuff like it being founded by Mama and Papa Sbarro, the smell of warm mozzarella coming from their oven and stuff like that. I guess there's just no winning with some companies when it comes to this stuff. I think it should be semi-protected and cleaned up.

I'm a big fan of their pizza and baked ziti, and I've been calling it "suh-BAH-roh" for years until I heard it pronounced "SPAH-roh" on a recent episode of Saturday Night Live. It's a New York-based show talking about a New York-based restaurant chain, so it's certainly credible. --205.188.116.130 03:52, 11 June 2006 (UTC)
Should anything be added about the character Eric "E" from the TV show Entourage who was a manager at a Sbarro's in Queens?
Sbarro or Sbarro's?
[edit]I've noticed that some locations around here (like the one at the Lakes Mall in Muskegon) say "Sbarro's" pizzeria. Rather odd, since the website still says "Sbarro". TenPoundHammer 12:29, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
I defy you to present evidence of any signage in history for this chain that reads, "Sbarro's." It doesn't exist. The "apostrophe S" phenomenon is a ubiquitous colloquialism in America that has always astounded me when it comes to restaurant names. A restaurant called "Medici" will invariably be referred to as "Medici's." As if someone named Medici owns it, so it's HIS place. It's kind of funny when the name of the restaurant is actually a food item. There was a place near where i grew up called Rigatoni. So of course everyone called it "Rigatoni's." Nice. Like it is owned by John Rigatoni or something. Anyway, the restaurant is called Sbarro, always has been. Never at any time was it called Sbarro's. Your confusing ignorant speech patterns with actual signage I'm afraid. Ace Rutherfords (talk) 18:54, 23 June 2011 (UTC)
Swiss car designer / disambiguation page?
[edit]There's also a swiss car designer/manufactor of the same name, see Sbarro_(automobile). Can someone create a disambiguation page? (sorry, I'm just a rookie at WP) 62.104.94.234 00:28, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
Minor Edit
[edit]Because the pop culture section specifies the name of the "Scrubs" episode, I linked the "Office" episode as well. Danberbro (talk) 18:15, 23 December 2007 (UTC)

The Sbarro Suicide Bomber?
[edit]Is it worth mentioning the suicide bombing inside a crowded Sbarro in Jerusalem, Israel in 2001? 24.184.184.130 (talk) 02:26, 6 January 2009 (UTC)
Criticism?
[edit]Would it be okay to add a criticism section to a food related article? I know I've read many reviews that gave Sbarro's poor marks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.74.89.197 (talk) 20:33, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

New York Style Pizza?
[edit]The page currently says that the chain specializes in New York Style Pizza. Does anyone else think that this is not true? New York style pizza is thin crust, whereas Sbarro pizza has a pretty thick bread-like crust. I know that the chain originated in New York, but does that make it New York style pizza?
I agree, they do not serve New York style pizza, although their website claims that is one type of pizza they serve. I don't think it is typical of their offerings, so it's misleading. I will remove the remark. Dsav (talk) 05:14, 22 July 2009 (UTC)
- Is it possible you're confused? A lot of pizza places offer a choice of flat-crust, New York Style pizza, or thick Sicilian-style pizza. So is it possible you ate a piece of Sicilian-style pizza, and now you think thick crust pizzza is their main pizza product? I think the comment about "New York Style" pizza should be put back into the article. Marc S. 206.192.35.125 (talk) 12:30, 25 September 2015 (UTC)
Reverted edits without chance to comment on edit
[edit]I reverted edits by 67.173.23.116 which were an attempt to copyedit the opening sentences. The changes introduced ended with something which, in my opinion, did not read well, so I rolled the edit series back. No harm intended. --User:Ceyockey (talk to me) 01:53, 1 November 2012 (UTC)
Edits on Food Quality
[edit]My edit from the Financial Times about Sbarro being the worst fast food chain in the U.S. was undone without any discussion on the talk page or explanation. I prefer not to get into an edit war. I will put back at least once; if it is taken out there should be an explanation and a good reason.Mwinog2777 (talk) 21:16, 10 July 2015 (UTC)
If there are wonderfully positive reviews, should there not be allowed negative reviews? I would ask any editor who revises my recent edits to discuss first on the talk pageMwinog2777 (talk) 04:47, 11 July 2015 (UTC)
Unreliable Sources
[edit]Original reference #2 was not a reliable source for the following statement: "In 2008, Sbarro was rated the #1 Quick Service Restaurant in the Italian segment by Entrepreneur magazine. It has held this title multiple times over the years." Per Wikipedia guidelines: "Reliable sources must be strong enough to support the claim. A lightweight source may sometimes be acceptable for a lightweight claim, but never for an extraordinary claim. Questionable sources are those with a poor reputation for checking the facts, or with no editorial oversight. Such sources include websites and publications expressing views that are widely acknowledged as extremist, that are promotional in nature..." The claims they make are not "lightweight." If anything, they are "extraordinary." The citation came from the company and is clearly "promotional." I could not verify their claim. I would like this to be discussed further. And, it need not be mentioned twice in the page. I changed the citation to [citation needed], and took out duplicate sentence.
References 6,7, and 12 are not only promotional, but the website is down.Mwinog2777 (talk) 22:41, 11 July 2015 (UTC)
- At the time of this edit, references 5-7 are promos for Sbarro, nothing more. I propose taking out the references and changing it to:
[citation needed].
Please discuss. Mwinog2777 (talk) 03:13, 15 July 2015 (UTC)

UK Openings
[edit]I find it weird that there is mention of UK outlets only opening in 2020, when I distinctly remember a franchise in the food court at the Grafton Centre in Cambridge in the late 90s. Unfortunately I am struggling to find any press coverage, images or other sources of the 1995 opening of the extension where the food court was located. There is a listing on a random listings site for it though (the Grafton is in East Road) https://britishcuisine.co.uk/sbarro-restaurants-address-east-rd-the-grafton-centre/ King Rikk (talk) 09:15, 22 November 2022 (UTC)
- I have further proof that there was one in Watford in 2003. https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/news/410760.food-court-in-the-harlequin-is-scrapped/ King Rikk (talk) 11:52, 22 November 2022 (UTC)
- I distinctly recall there being a Sharro in Birmingham New Street station in the early 2000s, fwiw. 174.164.53.156 (talk) 01:01, 26 November 2023 (UTC)
