Date of establishment
[edit]Actually this unit was established in 1964. (MARK S. 14:25, 11 November 2006 (UTC))
- Sayeret Matkal WAS created in 1958, with Avraham Arnan as it's first Commanding Officer. If you have any information to the contrary then please provide it. WikiphyteMk1 11:03, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

Problems
[edit]I dont know anything about this group, but there seems to be conflicting dates for when it came into existence. Also, the paragraph on Ehud Barak seems bias and unencyclopedic. Perhaps someone who knows more about this group could re-write it. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 202.4.74.65 (talk) 16:07, 15 February 2007 (UTC).
Why is the section on operations titled “Alleged Operations” instead of just “Operations” or “Known Operations” like other articles? Either some explanation should be given or it should be changed simply to “Operations”. 2600:387:1:811:0:0:0:89 (talk) 22:11, 2 March 2019 (UTC)
mistake
[edit]it says: "Sayeret Matkal (Hebrew: סיירת מטכ"ל, translation: General Staff Reconnaissance Unit)" but this is a mistake, the translation is without 'Reconnaissance' only General Staff unit. i have already fix that before but someone - who don't know hebrew i guess - change it back. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 46.117.247.221 (talk) 18:27, 7 May 2011 (UTC)
- That would be me and Hebrew is my native tongue. You cannot translate "סיירת" as "unit". Unit is "יחידה", "עוצבה" or a number of other words, but the root ס-י-ר means we're talking reconnaissance, and that's how all the sources refer to it. Poliocretes (talk) 18:43, 7 May 2011 (UTC)
Contradiction within the article: At the beginning, it says that 3 hostages were killed in the Entebbe raid. Later it says 4 hostages were killed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.79.62.196 (talk) 07:52, 31 May 2012 (UTC)
Why does the current image called "Sayeret matkal crest dark post.jpg" spell the word "sayeret" with the Hebrew letter "ayin" instead of "resh" ? This would be a different word. 192.173.168.203 (talk) 05:40, 19 February 2015 (UTC)
New "material"
[edit]- What sources are these? Just because a book is published, does not make the material therin reliable. Sounds like crap frankly. What is the background of these books? Irondome (talk) 21:52, 25 February 2015 (UTC)
Insignia
[edit]On the basis of what the Insignia in this article was made of? first of all, it has a mistake in it's hebrew title (it's says saye'et not sayeret), and I don't believe that an original Insignia would include an english title. in the hebrew article this Insignia does not appear. Women
[edit]Is it possible for female soldiers to join the Sayeret Matkal or the israelian special forces in general? --Exodianecross (talk) 01:46, 27 November 2015 (UTC)
Notable members
[edit]The name order in #3 Notable members appears haphazard rather than logical. Perhaps it should be alphabetical order by surname, eg. Doron Avital, Nadav Argaman, Naftali Bennett, Muki Betser, etc. Mcljlm (talk) 02:34, 11 July 2021 (UTC)
Political ‘mistake’ “Commanders” - Benjamin
[edit]Benjamin Netanyahu and Ido Netanyahu were never commanders of Sayeret Maral, this seems to be an attempt at political propaganda. Please correct. 2A02:1811:1C7F:1E00:1860:487B:2230:3C53 (talk) 17:58, 9 July 2024 (UTC)
