Alias?
[edit]In doing a Google News search on Williams, I found this article, a review of The Dead Emcee Scrolls, and it refers to him as "Niggy Tardust, aka Saul Williams". I can't find any other instance of him using this alias, and a regular Google search on that name only produces one result, which is an outdated foreign language page (I had to click on "Cached" to find the version of the page with the name). Would this one article be considered "verification" enough to include mention of the alias in the article, and if so, should it be mentioned in the opening paragraph, or added as part of a "trivia" section? - Ugliness Man 12:21, 28 February 2006 (UTC)
- I have The Dead Emcee Scrolls, and the name appears in the dedication (I just started it, so I have no idea if it appears further on), in a group of esoteric names. I doubt it is an alias of his, because the others aren't (Rebekka Holylove, Zupert Henry). More likely, just a nickname for a friend. - Illihit 21:03, 26 March 2006 (UTC)
- Willimas signs the Acknowledgements section of Dead Emcee Scrolls as "Saul Williams aka Niggy Tardust." -- H·G (words/works) 20:06, 5 August 2006 (UTC)
- The new nine inch nails single (the physical actual disc that is) features saul performing a version the song. On the cd version the track is "Survivalism_Tardusted" and the vinyl version contains a remix which (according to wikipedia) is titled "Survivalism_OpalHeartClinic_Niggy_Tardust!(Escaped...". So i think it's safe to say that "Niggy Tardust" is an alias of his with official sources.65.43.223.213 06:52, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

I wanted to point out that David Bowie released an album titled "The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars" in 1972. Given Bowie's relationship with Trent Reznor, I always just assumed that Saul's album (and the name Niggy Tardust) was a word play off the similarly titled Bowie album. 12.187.141.2 (talk) 04:45, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
Integral Theory
[edit]Should this template - Template:Integral theory - back on the page? I mean he is listed as a part of the template but I've never heard him linked to it outside of wikipedia. Horses In The Sky talk contributions
- Nor have I, and I haven't been able to find anything verifiable linking him to it. I removed his name from the template. -- H·G (words/works) 20:15, 5 August 2006 (UTC)
who's the beat master?
[edit]Saul Williams' music has some of the most out-there rythms and instrument usage in the hip hop world.. who does it? doe Rick Rubin do it all, or do others help, or does Williams do some himself? very interested to know, I'd love to hear others with similarly inventive/original hip hop. --naught101 02:12, 29 August 2006 (UTC)
I don't have Amethyst Rock Star with me at the moment, but the liner notes for his self-titled sophomore release claim "all tracks produced by saul williams, co-produced mixed and engineered by mickey p, except" these producers for certain tracks: musa bailey, serj tankian, ajabu beck

New Album Update
[edit]The following was posted to the official Nine Inch Nails website by Trent Reznor:
"Posted on [05_13_2007]
I am in the studio with Alan Moulder finishing Saul Williams' new record and it sounds awesome. We'll be done this month just in time for the NIN tour." Braincandle 20:00, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
Kanye West? Mos Def?
[edit]Is there a reason none of his work with Kanye West is mentioned? He did a track on his first album (Never let you down with Jay-Z) and had a part in the making of the remix of Diamonds from Seirra Leone. + the Time track with Wax Poetic also had Mos Def on it. It just seems silly that we don't mention some of his collaborations with more "mainstream" artists. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.184.108.112 (talk) 16:15, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
- add it under the guest and compilation appearances section then.65.43.217.205 05:46, 16 November 2007 (UTC)
It's not Saul Williams on the Kanye stuff, it's a poet from Chicago named J Ivey. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.211.130.130 (talk) 14:17, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
Married to Persia White
[edit]Saul Williams was married to Persia White on Feb 29, 2008. White confirmed the marriage on her Myspace page on May 25, 2008. --Forcythia (talk) 05:33, 26 May 2008 (UTC)
Persia announced on her myspace on January 17, 2009 that they're no longer married. The page should be updated to show that. http://blogs.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendID=19347697&blogID=464545735 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.39.103.200 (talk) 16:03, 22 April 2009 (UTC)
Coded Language
[edit]I was re-reading "Coded Language" and thought a Wikipedia page would be very useful, especially for the long list of names toward the end. Unfortunately, there isn't one and not even one for Dead Emcee Scrolls. I've taught this poem several times, mostly because of that long list of names, and I think having a page about it would be useful. Of his poems, this is the one he seems to perform the most, so I think it is noteworthy. If you think I'm totally off on this, please let me know. Before I create it, I want to make sure I'm clear on the reference. There's no easy way to research this for certain, so this is more for the hyperlink than for the citation. Here's the original:
"ROBESON, GOD'S SON, HURSTON, AHKENATON, HATHSHEPUT, BLACKFOOT, HELEN, LENNON, KHALO, KALI, THE THREE MARIAS, TARA, LILITHE, LOURDE, WHITMAN, BALDWIN, GINSBERG, KAUFMAN, LUMUMBA, GHANDI, GIBRAN, SHABAZZ, SIDDHARTHA, MEDUSA, GUEVARA, GUARDSIEFF, RAND, WRIGHT, BANNEKER, TUBMAN, HAMER, HOLIDAY, DAVIS, COLTRANE, MORRISON, JOPLIN, DUBOIS, CLARKE, SHAKESPEARE, RACHMNINOV, ELLINGTON, CARTER, GAYE, HATHOWAY, HENDRIX, KUTL, DICKERSON, RIPPERTON, MARY, ISIS, THERESA, PLATH, RUMI, FELLINI, MICHAUX, NOSTRADAMUS, NEFERTITI, LA ROCK, SHIVA, GANESHA, YEMAJA, OSHUN, OBATALA, OGUN, KENNEDY, KING, FOUR LITTLE GIRLS, HIROSHIMA, NAGASAKI, KELLER, BIKO, PERONE, MARLEY, COSBY, SHAKUR, THOSE STILL AFLAMED, AND THE COUNTLESS UNNAMED"
Here's my guess at the references (excluding the obvious gods, pharoes, events, etc. please tell me who I've missed): Paul Robeson, Zora Neale Hurston, John Lennon, Frida Khalo, Walt Whitman, James Baldwin, Allen Ginsberg, Bob Kaufman, Patrice Lamumba, Mahatma Ghandi, Kalil Gibran, Che Guevara, Ayn Rand, Richard Wright, Benjamin Banneker, Hariet Tubman, Billie Holiday, Angela Davis, John Coltrane, Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, W.E.B. DuBois, William Shakespeare, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Duke Ellington, Marvin Gaye, Jimi Hendrix, Earl Dickerson, Minnie Ripperton, Sylvia Plath, Jalalodin Rumi, Frederico Fellini, Henri Michaux, Scott La Rock, John Kennedy, Martin Luther King, Helen Keller, Steve Biko, Eva Perone, Bob Marley, Bill Cosby, Tupac Shakur.
Some are hard to narrow down because they could refer to several people: Lourde, Shabazz, Clarke, Carter, and Hathoway.
I wish I was smart enough to know every single reference for certain, but that's why I'm posting this, for a little help from you Saul Williams scholars out there.134.224.220.1 (talk) 18:29, 31 March 2010 (UTC)
Holler If Ya Hear Me
[edit]Noticed that there is no information on his lead role in a Broadway musical, Holler If Ya Hear Me. I'm going to go ahead and add that in. Let me know if you have any questions. Adamh4 (talk) 18:06, 13 June 2014 (UTC)
