The Gr"sh

[edit]

does anybody really call him that? i mean hes a Conservative Rabbi and Conservative Jews arent usually big on having "gdolim" they rely much more on their local rabbis. So I doubt he was actually given an acronym thats much more in the O world —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.72.241.193 (talk) 12:50, 17 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, some of his students call him the Gra"sh, e.g. Professor Dov Zlotnick. And Rabbi Lieberman was not a Conservative Rabbi, but was Orthodox both in his personal observance and in his Rabbinic ordination.

"palestine vs. "jerusalem"

[edit]

for all those who like to fight over whether the area is called "palestine or "jerusalem", you've got to admit that he didn't study palestinian literature or the palestinian talmud. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.250.26.93 (talk) 16:25, 9 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You're a little confused over concepts. He was appointed to a position that referred to "Palestinian" because the geographical area at that time was called Palestine. Nothing to do with the Talmud Yerushalmi, although I'm sure a command of that Talmud would have been an important aspect of his work. --Dweller 10:42, 2 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
This is a very very silly argument. The original statement above displays total ignorance of the history of the terms Yerushalmi, Palestininan, Talmudah shel-Qesariin etc. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 132.74.99.84 (talk) 14:01, 7 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

head over the heels review

[edit]

This is still a very gushy head over the heels review. He need to be treated as part of the academic study of Rabbinics.

Grammar

[edit]

Shouldn't "whom broke away" in the last line of the Paradox in Affiliation section be "who broke away"? Mcljlm (talk) 00:21, 24 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

"After completing his Masters"

[edit]

Perhaps not everyone will agree. But

After completing his Masters at Hebrew University,

strikes me as very poor usage. Yes, colloquially people definitely speak like that. But formal writing requires it to be called a "Masters degree." Toddcs (talk) 12:38, 3 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
