'Official' year of birth vs. International Consensus
[edit]Wikipedia is a 'world' encyclopedia, not a nationalist or nationalistic one. Further, it should be based on facts but also have room for pluralism...multiple viewpoints, so long as they are mainstream enough to be accepted.
The fact of the matter is, the age claim of '113' flies in the face of 'international concensus'. Unless you or someone else is prepared to 'document' this age claim, it must be viewed as ? (uncertain) when in fact it is so.
Sincerely, Robert Young Ryoung122 01:43, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
Further, I note there's no even a birthdate or a deathdate....Ryoung122 01:43, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
- Well, it should definitely be mentioned (as it is) that his age is unconfirmed. Yet any other claims (e.g. that he was likely born in 1892) are just that: unsupported claims. This was a well-known Russian poet and these are his official demographics, we are only entitled to express our doubts in their veracity. --SimulacrumDP 16:18, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
- Please note that I did NOT change it to '1892'. That was probably an over-eager teenager.
Please note that we have lots of 'doubted' cases in the USA too: the current oldest American claimant is Pearl Gartrell, '119' years old. In Jan 2007, Alberta Davis of Georgia (US state) died at '125'. Neither was verified.
In this case, we don't even have a date of birth or a date of death. Please note that he could have been '112', for example, if he were born in November 1882 and died in February 1995. If more information can be secured, we could at least add him to the world footnotes...but not with 'no birthdate' and 'no deathdate.'
Sincerely, Robert Young
Please note I keep the records for the entire planet (see my talk page)...feel free to send me any claim to age 110+. Ryoung122 21:47, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
