"Wren's World?"
[edit]["Wren books are not set in Sartorias-deles."]
This is news to me, and upon examining the official Sherwood Smith site, it would seem Smith has indeed changed her position on a number of issues within the last several months. She even (it appears unintentionally) dumped all formatting from http://www.sff.net/people/Sherwood/writing/wren.html, though a good deal of HTML is still in there.
I guess the implication is that Sartorias-deles (Smith suddenly changed the spelling apparently, and now it matches her username on her blog site, though I'm very glad it won't be confused with the sartorius muscle now!) is one of the other planets in the Erhal system, not Wren's planet....Great [not], now I'm back to not knowing what the name of Wren's planet is.
- She's been spelling it with two a's for awhile, but hadn't changed her website till recently. It is confusing, but apparently she changes the spelling on things occasionally so that it better matches the way she "hears" the names. And I agree, it would be helpful to know the name of Wren's world. Jennifu 06:23, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
The most perplexing thing about this change in the Smithian Long Project continuity is that it now seems to contradict a line in Court Duel which refers to "trouble" with Senna Lirwan as though the nation is merely on a continent in proximity to where the events of Crown/Court Duel take place, not another planet. There was insufficient world-gate activity in the Erhal system at that time to allow for such a report to be given in a nonchalant manner. In fact I clearly remember being extremely delighted when I first read that nonchalant line early 2000's because I knew then that both stories took place on the same planet, Sherwood Smith seems to be changing that now...AltiusBimm 01:14, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
- When it was first published, Court Duel was set in Wren's world. Smith originally wrote it to be set in Sartorias-deles. However, she changed a few of the names of people and places so that the setting was changed to Wren's World, because she believed that meant more people would buy the book that way. In the Firebirds edition, Crown Duel is set once more in Sartorias-deles. I believe this edition no longer mentions Senna Lirwan but another place. If you'd give me details (chapter, sentence, etc.) of where the book mentions Senna Lirwan, I can check my copy (I have the Firebirds edition, but have never read the original edition) and see what name it gives. But I'm not sure what all this discussion has to do with the Wikipedia article. I can add more details there, if that was your point, though the details about Crown Duel should probably be on the Crown Duel article, which hasn't been created yet. Jennifu 06:24, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
Hehheh, you created an edit conflict with the latest heading adjustments! Nicely done though, in fact I like your headings better, I was editing Geography at the same time, but it didn't occur to me to put a Sartoran Geography section, I was just trying to blend more Sartoran comments into the Wrenian Geography section.
