Ambiguity in the lead sentence

[edit]

RE: "Sarracenia jonesii...is a species of pitcher plant endemic to the bogs in the mountains on the border between North Carolina and South Carolina discovered by Edgar T. Wherry.": were the BOGS discovered by E.T. Wherry (as this sentence most logically implies)? ...and even if they were, is this what the sentence is trying to convey?

I propose as an alternative: "Sarracenia jonesii is a species of pitcher plant discovered by Edgar T. Wherry which is endemic to the bogs in the mountains on the border between North Carolina and South Carolina."

(...or put the info about the discovery by ETW in another sentence altogether.)

Would the original author of this text please clarify...??

Thanks!

It's definitely the plant that was discovered by Wherry, not the bogs. Rephrased following your suggestion. Plantdrew (talk) 19:12, 30 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
