Strictly speaking, based on the past historical references, Tovey never actually served as music director of the Sarasota Orchestra, but as music director-designate from the start of the 2021-2022 season until his death. However, the orchestra's own page 'retroactively' speaks of Tovey as its 'sixth music director', so the wikipedia page reflects that 'adjusted history', so to speak.
