Great start on this article, but I think it comes up short in several ways. I would love to see it nominated again in the future after correcting these concerns.
General
[edit]- DoneThere is a lot of use of the pronoun "he" when it is not immediately obvious whom the passage is referring to. Please make use of proper names especially at the beginning of paragraphs so the reader understands the subject.
- DoneMixture of citation styles (some external links and some footnotes). Please consolidate. Footnotes preferred.
- The articles needs to be copyedited by a native English speaker; there are many instances of inappropriate comma use, incorrect grammar, and what appear to be awkward translations from Spanish.
- I went through the article and fixed the punctuation and grammatical errors that I found. There are still quite a few unclear statements that I didn't want to change because I don't know enough about the subject. GaryColemanFan 20:02, 5 October 2007 (UTC)
Genealogy
[edit]- DoneThis passage sounds like it was copied out of a critical essay or textbook; its tone is inappropriate: "To understand the work of Martinez, it is crucial to contemplate his genealogy, as his ancestry profoundly influenced his art choices and books."
- DoneThis is not a complete sentence: "Born into an aristocratic family in Bogotá."
- DoneThe entire section is rambling and difficult to understand. There are statements that are not clearly backed up by references, such as "It was from his paternal line that he inherited a yearning for history and literature..." Several references are in Spanish and impossible for an English-speaking reader to verify. The third reference is to an "angelfire.com" web page and is not reliable.
Early years
[edit]- DoneEdit point-of-view phrase "tender age of 11".
Chicago and Taliesin
[edit]- DoneCheck capitalization for names of works and names of awards and capitalization in quotations per MOS:CAPS.
- DoneCheck grammar: "...where he also contributed in the Murals at the General Motors Exhibit, after Diego Rivera's commission was cancel due to the Lenin controversy in New York."
- DoneNeed a wikilink or further explanation for "Lenin controversy"; it's not obvious what you are referring to.
Back in Columbia
[edit]- Done (improved also refers to being the first to use any modernistic line also made the first Art Deco Paintings, before Magnenat) I don't understand what this passage is saying: "He returned to Colombia in 1934 with an innovative work at the vanguard of the country, and pioneering in the Art Deco style. This modernistic line was the first in the country and lead the way for the modern art revolution aimed by Guillermo Widermann, Fernando Botero and Alejandro Obregón years later."
Madonna dilemma
[edit]- Done There is no closing quote after the title of the painting in either mention.
- Check punctuation
Early departure
[edit]- DoneThe heading seems a little ambiguous. It should be obvious from scanning headings in the table of contents that this section describes his death. He did not "depart", he died.
- DoneCheck grammar and title capitalization: "During this period, he wrote and directed the dramatization of radio scripts, like: the "soap opera" el Virrey Solis, that broke all the ratings records for that year, also made plays like "Estampas Místicas de la tierra del Señor"; "Juan Manuel el Gavilán" (unedited) and "el derecho de Nacer" among others."
Listing of selected works
[edit]- DoneDo you mean "published" articles? "...including a large number of books and publish articles..."
- DoneCheck capitalization and style for all names of works - some have title caps, some do not, some are in quotes, some are not, etc.
- The list of books really needs to be in a table with headings for Title and Author; the current format is difficult to read.

Madonna dilemma 2
[edit]What's the dilemma? All the experts cited agree the piece is authentic. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 23.243.1.164 (talk) 04:40, 25 February 2014 (UTC)
Problem with Martinez linked to Taliesin
[edit]There is no proof that Santiago Martinez Delgado was an employee, apprentice, or associate of Frank Lloyd Wright's, or ever lived at Wright's home, Taliesin, or lived on the architect's estate. This is known by looking at all of Wright's correspondence for records of Martinez, and all known articles of Wright's at the time (of which there are none).
In addition, Frank Lloyd Wright did not design stained glass in the years noted in the [1]article, and never worked with anything that used figural works like that shown on the Wikipedia page on Martinez. Most of the references to Martinez and Wright are self-referential articles that have been showing up in Wikipedia for about 5 years. The only place Martinez independently shows up with Wright is a reference in this article that is to something in this Martinez article that notes something in the Tafel collection, and if that's so, more proof is needed before putting this into any article. [[2]] But other than that, all of the "evidence" is coming through here. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Marykeiran (talk • contribs) 21:41, 27 February 2015 (UTC)

This is the only complete biography of a major Colombian artist. Is a great template to follow. Plus the information is very complete. very good it can use some grammar improvement but over all is good. B - 08-07-07 123holguin.
