[edit]Talk started in light of recent edits,
Santhosh George Kulangara is a notable person as per WP:N (General notability guideline). Apart from all references mentioned including cnn & all major Indian news headlines (significant coverage's in reliable sources), a google search also provides more than 1,000 results and it is really keep on increasing. It will finally get a much more media attention (especially in India) by mid-2009 (expected time when he leave for space). Thank you. --Avinesh Jose T 08:16, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
- The article suject's notability is proven with the sources mentioned in the references -- TinuCherian (Wanna Talk?) - 07:37, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
nonsense removed from the article
[edit]User:Avineshjose who has been the subject of two WP:RFCUs where he has been found to be using puppets to maintain his WP:COI articles , is removing tags from this article without discussion. However, the article is in a mess. I am collecting some of the nonsense removed from the article to prove this. They guy is disruptive enough to accuse me of vandalising the article because I tagged it.[1]
- The part of this sentence in quotes: The published books are Oru Rabbiyude Chumbanangal (Kisses of a rabbi ) "which is his extensive journey on buses and ships through in the Eastern Europe". Reason: sentence is nonsense.
- He is also writing a book on the space voyage hoping space closer to people. [16] [17] He is also writing a book about the space voyage hoping space closer to people. [18] Reason: nonsense
"Why I would give it improper tone tag He was invited by (former) President of India Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and was given some vital tips before flying to space. He had spent some time with him in Rashtrapati Bhavan. Santhosh George was advised by President to make the programme in such a way that it would be informative for the children.[21] [22]" This is not the tone fitting to an encyclopedia. Horrible grammar and usage. Example: He is also a notable traveler as he visited 55 countries in short span and his travelogue in various visits is being telecast, known as Sancharam (The journey) in Asianet news channel every Sunday at 10:30 prime time in the morning. There are many more examples of inappropriate tone, sloppy writing, poor grammar etc. As they remain, the tags should also be there. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Uzhuthiran (talk • contribs) 01:49, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
Removing tags, rationale
[edit]I am removing User:Uzhuthiran a sock puppet who is using multiple accounts to vandal Wikipedia. His suspected sock puppet id’s are:
- 59.91.253.217 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log)
- 59.91.253.217 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log)
- Rashtrakooda (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log)
Look at his contributions that show he is mainly involved in creating non-notable articles and pushing pov's. This article is one of his prime target where he keeps adding the tags for vandalizing it.
Because of the following reasons why I am removing the tags that was added by User:Uzhuthiran:
- It is true that I am the creator of this article. But, it was [[2]] edited by many established editors and corrected/removed many stuff from it
- User:Uzhitharan’s accusation of poor grammar does not applicable here as it was already written in a similar way by many news agencies. That is the way of writing an article. (It doesn’t mean that some minor fixing may not be applicable). For example, He commented: The part of this sentence in quotes: The published books are Oru Rabbiyude Chumbanangal (Kisses of a rabbi ) "which is his extensive journey on buses and ships through in the Eastern Europe". Reason: sentence is nonsense. He also simply accusing and saying ‘this’ and ‘that’ are nonsense. How can he merely comment like this and adding the templates? What is the rationale?
- He accused me as sock puppet. I already explained what/where it went wrong in my talk page for further details.
- User:Uzhuthiran’s vandalism was previousely reverted by many users: 1 and check this also that shows he is not a constructive contributor, reverting others contibs with giving false edit summary to deviate othes attention from it and pretending to be good faith editor who is engaged in bad faith.
Because of all the above reasons, I am removing the vandalism by User:Uzhuthiran in this article. --Avinesh Jose T 04:25, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
- I've gone ahead and cleaned up most of the grammatical and spelling errors. The tone still needs to be worked on. Oh, and please don't call the addition of legitimate templates to articles 'vandalism'. --vi5in[talk] 05:56, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
The artcle needs a complete change in style. The tone is fawning. He may merit such admiration, but the reasons are not brought out neutrally in the article. I would suggest an NPOV tag here.. Deepak23 (talk) 10:28, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
Regarding WP:SECT
[edit]“ | The size of sections may vary, depending on what kind of subject is described and other variables. "Hard" knowledge, e.g. biochemistry articles, presenting many names and mechanisms in a short interval may have shorter section size, while, on the other hand, "soft" knowledge, like articles concerning movies, may have longer ones. There is no strict rule about how long a section may be, just as with wikipedia article size. Nevertheless, a proper section size is probably somewhere between 80 and 500 words. More specifically, "hard" knowledge articles should contain between 80 and 250, while "soft" ones may contain more than 250. Individual circumstances decides - many short sections makes it easier to find the desired information about a subject, but might, when used in excess, disturb the fluency of an article. | ” |
There's absolutely no need to split this article into numerous sections, especially when there is barely enough information to justify a section on its own. As it stands, the Background section describes the person perfectly and therefore leads really well into the Space Travel section. There is no need to have a section on "Published Books" since the notability of this person is based on him being the first space traveler from India and is not based on his books. Furthermore, he has only published two books which doesn't warrant a section of its own. The information is ancillary. As far as his traveling is concerned, that information is better placed in the Background section since that sets the stage to talk about his trip to space that's coming up. Three sections are more than enough for this short article. Also note that this is an article about "soft" knowledge and typically have longer sections. --vi5in[talk] 02:20, 17 August 2008 (UTC)
- Listen, nobody is interested to read a long article if it doesn’t have proper sections. If sections are included, it would be easy for a reader to skim and scan it from here and there. --Avinesh Jose T 04:28, 18 August 2008 (UTC)
- But this article isn't long at all. Three sections are sufficient. --vi5in[talk] 18:12, 18 August 2008 (UTC)
- If you think peacock expressions like "globetrotter" are npov, you had better stop editing wp and do your job at the subject's business. Uzhuthiran (talk) 17:49, 18 August 2008 (UTC)
- I don’t need your advice on what business I should or not to do. Stop attacking me and targeting this article. Your editing behavior clearly shows that you are one of the rivals of this firm. You do not have any other business in Wikipedia other than targeting Labour India Publications Ltd. and its associates. I also think that you are a paid editor. Your recent vandalism on Labour India school were already reverted by many admins. --Avinesh Jose T 04:12, 19 August 2008 (UTC)

Awards references
[edit]Please check board of directors in the webpage and click on Santhosh George Kulangara and information regarding his honours and awards will be mentioned there. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pachu Kannan (talk • contribs) 14:26, 14 February 2021 (UTC)
- Hi. Thanks. However, that page simply states the following:
- "He has won several honours including Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award,RAPA National Award,Kamal Patra Award,Yuva Prathiba Award".
- This text cannot be used to support claims or assertions about anything else. The majority of the text in the "awards" section remains entirely unsupported by reliable sources.
- I also note, with some interest, that that webpage describes the subject as "first Indian space tourist designate". Which is a description which provides much more accuracy and prescience than the one previously used in this (and other) articles about the subject. Guliolopez (talk) 17:17, 14 February 2021 (UTC)
Cleanup tag
[edit]This is given in this article - "This article relies excessively on references to primary sources. Please improve this article by adding secondary or tertiary sources. Find sources: "Santhosh George Kulangara" – news · newspapers · books · scholar · JSTOR (June 2021) (Learn how and when to remove this template message)"
i have added secondary source. Can this tempalate be removed ? (Themisislegal (talk) 05:44, 20 October 2023 (UTC))
- Hi. RE:
- "I have added secondary source". The external link you added (to the EL section rather than a reference) was removed. Likely because it failed WP:ELYES.
- "Can this [primary sources] tempalate be removed". Even if the link you added was a reliable secondary reference (rather than a questionable EL), adding an additional SINGLE link doesn't address the concern. A large volume of the references in the article (perhaps as many as one quarter of those linked) are to the subject's own personal website (santhoshgeorge.com) or other websites/organisations with which the subject has an association (safaritvchannel.com, Labour India Educational Research Centre, etc). The issue, highlighted by the tag, is not reasonably addressed.
- Bye. Guliolopez (talk) 21:15, 20 October 2023 (UTC)
This article needs additional references and link and should not be limited to one source. even though some wiki editors have added, more needs to done in this (45.121.2.48 (talk) 18:55, 18 September 2024 (UTC))
- https://www.hindustantimes.com/india-news/keralas-santhosh-george-kulangara-could-be-india-s-first-space-tourist-via-virgin-galactic-101628872191403.html .. This is a comprehensive news coverage that can be added. (45.121.2.48 (talk) 19:00, 18 September 2024 (UTC)) If everyone agrees, i will add it.
It is not any more relying on primary sources. I believe it was a tag done early, so many wiki editors have contributed immensely to this article by contributing a lot of secondary and tertiary sources, including of mainstream media. i added hindustan times too. It is time to delete the tag of relying on primary sources. I am not doing it as there is no second opinion. Will wait a week or 2 for other people to join the discussion and then take off the tag after some one is also agreeing with the opinion expressed above (45.121.2.48 (talk) 19:06, 18 September 2024 (UTC))
- Hi. Thanks for your note. And adding an additional non-primary source. While it is true to say that there has been some improvement since I originally added the related tag (noting the over-reliance on primary sources), even today there are large sections of text that rely almost entirely on sources which have a connection to the subject. Like the "awards and honours" section. Which relies almost entirely on the subject's own website. With several of the other sources in that section (including a YouTube link and a link to user-generated content on goodreads.com) also being less-than-ideal. Elsewhere in the body there are still more than a few links to primary sources (like an interview with the subject and websites of the subject's company/companies/associations). If you are seeking secondary sources, it might be best to see if there are alternative sources to replace these. Thanks again. Guliolopez (talk) 16:00, 19 September 2024 (UTC)
