First black Marvel superhero

I don't want to go into a perfectly good article and start editing, but I did want to point out that the first appearance of Black Panther was in 1966[1]

This is also addressed in the Wiki article Portrayal of black people in comics

Is it possible that the artist who was interviewed didn't know that that character was developing? Honestly, I believe it. You get busy and excited by your own projects & don't read up on all the others at the company. But big props to Stan the Man for not saying, "We already have a black superhero."
