Education?

[edit]

Did Sam Simon go to Harvard like so many other guys who work on The Simpsons? - Mcasey666 14:20, 29 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

He supposedly didn't get along with Matt Groening

[edit]

A few years ago, I heard on on PEEL that Sam Simon and Matt Groening didn't get along. You can read it at [1] —The preceding unsigned comment was added by John Pannozzi (talkcontribs) 20:32, 27 March 2007 (UTC).[reply]

On the Series 7 episode 'the Simpsons 138th Episode Spectacular', Sam Simon is portrayed as an old, wrinkled man lying in bed and using a type-writer with his overly-long fingernails. Whether this was Groening's idea, I don't know. NIN (talk) 14:12, 26 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's not. According to the commentary, it was Simon's idea. -- Scorpion0422 12:21, 26 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

George Carlin couldn't stand him either. --77.249.207.50 (talk) 10:50, 26 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Real Picture?

[edit]

Given the context of 3F31, Sam Simon probably doesn't look anything like that. --Jnelson09 05:30, 16 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. Plus if I recall correctly from the commentary, Sam Simon himself submitted that sketch. 124.176.145.183 (talk) 10:27, 4 November 2008 (UTC)ima[reply]

World Series of Poker 2007 Main Event

[edit]

Apparently Sam Simon *cashed* in the event, if someone knows the details and can add a sentence to the article here I think that would be great. 68.149.190.31 14:30, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Does anyone have a list of the Simpsons characters Sam Simon created? 71.220.113.50 21:19, 27 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

who wants to be a millionare

[edit]

Is it worth a mention that both Drew Carey and Norm MacDonald used Sam Simon as their phone-a-friend when they were on the WWTBM celeb edition? On Thermonuclear War (talk) 01:03, 2 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

WP:LEAD
Early life
Early career

I just don't see that as necessary and think it looks clunky, out of place and overdetailed. I'll put years ranges after the seasons, but I personally think that suffices for explaining when things happened. Gran2 22:59, 17 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I am going to be offline for the rest of the afternoon. I will do a readthrough tonight, but it is looking good.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 18:12, 18 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Probably need to change "biggest win " to "biggest win in terms of both field size and prize money"--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 18:20, 18 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

GA review (see here for what the criteria are, and here for what they are not)
  1. It is reasonably well written.
a (prose): b (MoS for lead, layout, word choice, fiction, and lists):
  2. It is factually accurate and verifiable.
a (references): b (citations to reliable sources): c (OR):
  3. It is broad in its coverage.
    a (major aspects): b (focused):
  4. It follows the neutral point of view policy.
    Fair representation without bias:
  5. It is stable.
    No edit wars, etc.:
  6. It is illustrated by images, where possible and appropriate.
a (images are tagged and non-free images have fair use rationales): b (appropriate use with suitable captions):
Fails 6a because most Hollywood folks are suppose to have {{personality rights}} on their images. This is a borderline case since he is not really an onscreen personality, but we might as well protect his rights anyway since he is somewhat recognizable. Fails 6b because a WP:CAPTION should not end in a full stop if it is not a full sentence. Either make it a full sentence or remove the full stop.
  7. Overall:
    Pass/Fail:
I am just about ready to pass this. One minor issue is the talk page. Simon should probably be in several more projects. I would check those at Talk:The Simpsons and those at Talk:World Series of Poker.

A few minor issue and then we are done.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 23:29, 18 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Right, the images things are done. I've tagged it with WP:COMEDY. If other projects want to tag this page they are more than welcome to, but I don't really see why that's my responsibility. Gran2 11:55, 19 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your hard work and patience with my review. I am now passing this article.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 12:36, 19 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your review. Gran2 13:39, 19 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Reference for death

[edit]

Can someone please add a reliable reference for his death? I can only find the Sam Simon Foundation's Facebook page, which doesn't lend itself to linking. Espresso Addict (talk) 18:58, 9 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Cause of death in Infobox

[edit]

Do we really need the cause of death listed in the infobox? It looks so tacky to me. David Santos (talk) 00:58, 10 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

As far as I'm aware we do. I've just checked some biographical articles of dead people, ones I checked all had them listed. --5 albert square (talk) 01:15, 10 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Well, there's no rule that says we need it. Abraham Lincoln doesn't have it, to name the first article I checked. Zagalejo^^^ 00:06, 11 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
