[edit]Sam Rayburn Reservoir is not located in South East Texas. Rather, it is located in Deep East Texas. Deep East Texas is classified by the Deep East Texas Council of Government (DETCOG).
Deep East Texas includes the counties of Angelina, Houston, Jasper, Nacogdoches, Newton, Polk, Sabine, San Augustine, San Jacinto, Shelby, Trinity, and Tyler. Sam Rayburn lake is deep inside this region, nowhere near South East Texas (not even close).
