Thanks
[edit]Thanks for creating this article, Madmanjjp! There is much good work here. Do you have sources for the performance practice interpretations you propose in the final section of the article? At present, it seems somewhat subjective, or even like OR. maestro (talk) 12:36, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
suggestions for refining this article
[edit]Actually it is not accurate to say that the text of this work is in Russian nor that it is written in "Russian script". The language of the Russian Orthodox liturgy (including its magnificent musical tradition) is "Church Slavonic" which for many centuries has been rendered in "Cyrillic Script". It is also better to say that the the Roman alphabet version is a "Romanization" of the Cyrillic Script. The term "Phonetic Alphabet" implies the use of the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) which this is clearly not. The person to check with is Vladimir Morosan who has edited this and hundreds of other masterpieces of Russian Orthodox choral music for Musica Russica Publications in San Diego in addition to being the most noted conductor, musicologist and clinician who specializes in performing this literature in North America.Smorgantokyo (talk) 11:46, 10 September 2009 (UTC)
