The history section has a 70 year gap!

[edit]

This article has a major problem, the history seems to reach 1943 and it jumps ahead 70 years without any info on what happened to Schilling AFB and what types of planes were stationed there in the postwar years. There's a section about solvent contamination and lawsuits, but no context at all. -Rolypolyman (talk) 12:28, 8 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I have added some key events up until the closing of the base.
Some other events that could be added:
  • When did it become Salina Regional Airport (did the old airport on the east side of town move here?)
  • Current status as Forward Operating Base
  • Reference connection Smoky Hill Bombing range
  • Reference Jaded Thunder and other training events that have taken place here

The result of this discussion was to split Schilling AFB from Salina Regional Airport. Aviationwikiflight (talk) 10:34, 25 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It seems to me that Schilling AFB is a distinct entity, and there is already enough info about it here to warrant its own article, and certainly much more to be added.

But, I have minimal experience editing Wikipedia, so looking for others' thoughts. abcasada (talk) 07:52, 29 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Agree. The whole section of history is mostly Schilling AFB, and it looks like it's the majority of the page.
