Holiday Legislation
[edit]There have been numerous attempts to make St. Patrick's Day a school holiday New York, and I'd like to note as much, but I'm rubbish at making Wikipedia citations. Tyrekecorrea (talk) 20:41, 10 March 2023 (UTC)
Shamrock Shake
[edit]The McDonald's Shamrock Shake is a popular and highly anticipated food created and only sold around Saint Patrick's Day. Should it be given mention? It is a kind of 'way to celebrate' in America and has definitely become a part of the holiday there. all people who have the shake are irish or jewish. true stories by ashlee ann luttinen on facebook.com friend me please §§§§§§//
St. Patrick's Day in La Crosse, WI
[edit]St. Patrick's Day in La Crosse, WI is celebrated like in other cities with large parties, but what sets this city apart from other's is the .01km Run, Walk that happens every year. This is the world's shortest run/walk on the record. The finish line is into a bar for a free green beer. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 139.102.153.223 (talk) 03:25, 15 February 2012 (UTC)

Football section claim
[edit]I've excised the following from the end of the Football Section, as it's a blatantly unencyclopedic mass of policy violations. Including (but not necessarily limited to) WP:NOR, WP:V, WP:SOAP, and WP:SPECULATION.
Although none of the NFL teams have an Irish-themed nickname (like the NBA's Celtics or college's Notre Dame Fighting Irish) and mostly sell the merchandise for extra sales, the Pittsburgh Steelers are owned by the Rooney family, who are Irish Catholic and would've likely sold such merchandise anyway.

Edit request: Add Boston to Cities with major celebrations
[edit]St. Patrick's Day is a huge deal in Boston and it's probably one of the cities most strongly associated with Irish heritage. Nadhika99 (talk) 00:59, 19 March 2012 (UTC)
Cleveland
[edit]Sorry if I format incorrectly, I haven't been active in awhile. Cleveland's parade this year drew a record 500,000 people (estimate) downtown for the festivities (Source: http://blog.cleveland.com/metro/2012/03/st_patricks_day_parade_sets_mu.html) The parade and has been a huge draw for years, this is in no way a new trend, and should be referenced on this page. I am not quite sure if I can add the section, but if someone can add the skeleton I can add pertinent information of the parade and celebration downtown. I can likely find photo's but do not know how to add them. What do you guys think? Trust me, it is a very big deal here in Cleveland. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wickb55 (talk • contribs) 03:01, 20 March 2012 (UTC)
March 17 falling on Sunday other than Palm Sunday
[edit]That happens this year.
In 2008, when March 17 fell in Holy Week, the Ireland patronal celebration was on March 14 as described in the article, and at least 1 U.S. diocese allowed "optional memorial" of St. Patrick on that day. Otherwise in the U.S., St. Patrick feast would be omitted if impeded by a day of 1st class. So what do those places do about St. Patrick's this year? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.63.16.20 (talk) 17:38, 16 January 2013 (UTC)
Opening sentence is inaccurate
[edit]Suffolk county - "And though the law is said to formally recognize the day the British evacuated Boston in 1776..." There's no formal declaration the holiday is for St. Patrick's Day.
Chatham county - Holiday schedule. No St. Patrick's Day.
