This article seems noticeable for defining the origin of a significant lineage of Paris intellectuals (in fact it is a translation from French article on Wikipedia). posterity does not remember any particular work of art from this painter, who however was recognised at his time as a member of the academic movement, at the split of time between XVIIth century where artist existed with sponsors from hight nobility (in this case Marie de Guise and XVIIIth century where more "national/state" protections (the King becoming sponsor of the Academy as a whole) allowed durable career.

Saint-Yves was introduced into the arts in Paris from old time protection, but his career (and his entry at the Academy in 1708) survived the disappearance of the sponsor, thanks to the court/academy system.

He is also at the origin of one of the most significant private art collections of the XVIIIth centure (excluding, of course those of the princes), which was further developed by his great-nephew Charles Leoffroy de Saint-Yves.

To these extents, I still believe that a short article would be worth maintaining about him, in complement to the other articles about this lineage.
