IPA Pronunciation: Correct ending sound is t, not t̚

I notice that the last character for pronunciation was changed from 't' to 't̚'. What does 't̚' mean? I don't see it on the pronunciation page. 24.26.128.185 (talk) 18:31, 9 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, the 't' was a temporary treatment to transcribe 받침 "ㅅ" from jeot because I could not find anything for it. So googled 'IPA' along with "젓", then wiki dictionary has "젓뱅어" (jeotbaengeo), whoses IPA pronunciation is ˈʨʌt̚p͈ɛŋʌ[1]. I have restored the IPA pronunciation. Hangul and IPA pronunciation serve different purposes. IPA pronunciation is only for pronunciation, not spelling. As an ending consonant (받침), 'ㅅ' is pronounced as 'ㄷ', which is pronounced as 't' in IPA. 24.26.128.185 (talk) 00:47, 12 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
/t̚/ represents a /t/ without an audible release. Unreleased stops are very common in east Asian languages, but also in some contexts in English. Literal meaning of Osari

Page move to Sae-u jeot

The correct revised romanization for this food is Sae-u jeot. The hyphenation helps to distinguish between the "a-eu" and "ae-u" sounds. I'm not sure why there is a hyphen between Saeul-jeot, since "jeot" is a separate word. I suggest moving this article to "Sae-u jeot" to make the pronunciation more intuitive. The food is spelled "saeujeot" throughout the article without any hyphenation, so that should be updated whether moved or not.
