صابرينا

It isn't clear that صابرينا is an Arabic name in its own right, rather than the common Arabic rendition of the western name Sabrina, with the association with sbr "patience" arising folk-etymologically. Show the existence of the Arabic name pre-1954. --dab (𒁳) 10:43, 18 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Origin?

1) How can it be Romano-British yet originally Italian -- the Italian being undocumented? My understanding is that there was no Italian in the 2nd century.

2) How can it have an independent meaning in Arabic that has nothing to do with the Romano-British etymology, yet still be the "same" name?

3) This is one of Britain’s most ancient river names; the original meaning is uncertain, but it may have been ‘slow-moving’, alternatively "boundary", see "Sabrina." Why isn't this in the main text?
