Public domain photographs available

[edit]

@Keizers: For anyone who cares, there are several public domain photographs of this building available at the Library of Congress website (https://www.loc.gov/pictures/) taking when the building was actually used as a department store, in particular this picture from mid-1970s which a person could make a good estimate when the picture was taken by looking at the length and direction of shadows, the model of the motor vehicles, and the fashions being worn on the the people on the street and being displayed in the store windows. The LOC also has historical photographs of the downtown L.A. store.

Another source of historical photographs are the California Digital Library (also known as Calisphere) and also the Los Angeles Public Library. Both organizations authorize reuse of photos from their websites for "education purposes". Examples include this photo from 1978 and this photo from 1940s
