Coordinate error
[edit]{{geodata-check}}
The following coordinate fixes are needed: A ship cant sink on land, as shrimple as that. Maybe the coordinates of the island were chosen instead? Why:? I dunno

- You're certainly correct that the coordinates given, although sourced (albeit to a Web site that doesn't appear to be necessarily reliable), can't be correct. I've poked around a bit online, and have been unable to find a more reliable source. Most of the sites that give coordinates give ones the same as those in the article—for which the underlying source may be this 1947 U.S. government report—although this site gives approximately 2°16′S 150°12′E / 2.267°S 150.200°E, which is at least in the ocean and a plausible location north of New Hanover Island. I'm leaving this error report open, in case someone else can find better information. Deor (talk) 17:04, 23 June 2024 (UTC)
- Since it's been about two weeks with no additional responses, I've gone ahead and changed the coordinates to 2°16′S 150°12′E / 2.267°S 150.200°E, though I'm not happy about the source. Further investigation is still welcome. Deor (talk) 14:22, 8 July 2024 (UTC)
