Speculation

[edit]

I am not sure if the link for speculation is valid for this entry. I have watched many documentaries about this sinking, the most comprehensive being by the Deep Sea Detectives. They dedicated an hour to the wreck, actually diving on it. And while they discussed the cash stored in 2 vaults, there was never any mention of other materials speculated at. In fact, they listed the ore as poorly stacked, and the probably cause of the 30% list to the side. I am going to remove the current speculation. Mushrom 16:52, 6 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This matter is pretty disputed. Danish public service network, DR 2, showed a feature on the wreck (again) tonight. In some respects interesting. It is called DR-Dokumentar - Det skæve skib. På rejse til vraget af Flying Enterprise, i.e. "DR Documentary - The slant ship. On a voyage to the wreck of the Flying Enterprise." The producer, movie director Lasse Spang Olsen, contacted the CIA several times asking for material about the wreck and was informed that none existed. When he later learned that a file should exist from 1952, he enquired again and were informed that such a file indeed exists but that it was marked as active and thus inaccessible. Why any file about a (presumably) unimportant ship should be marked as active after 50 years was not answered. The network sent divers down to the wreck and they confirmed that the wreck has been cut open to remove parts of the cargo. Based on this information and several interviews with people knowing captain Carlsen, the programme concludes that the zirconium story is true. Agreement

[edit]

Shouldn't the phrase 'Confidentially Agreement' read 'Confidentiality Agreement'?

She wasn't a Liberty Ship, so I've removed that from the article.

Andere Tijden

[edit]

This Dutch documentary is about some naval action, but in the last 2 minutes an interview is given by a Dutch harbor inspector who was on the Flying Enterprise while it was loaded. The crew ignored the harbor inspector's comments that the ship was being loaded incorrectly and the captain was drunk.

No new information really, but the Times had a neat story on this; http://www.nytimes.com/2012/04/06/opinion/the-captain-who-stayed-aboard.html?src=recg Paul, in Saudi (talk) 14:50, 6 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
