Post-renovation photo, please

[edit]

Can we get a photo of the ship from after its 1947-48 renovation, when its third funnel was removed? --50.137.171.62 (talk) 04:27, 31 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Possible article improvements

[edit]

I find the article needing some improvements. The WWII section has details of events that are chronologically out of order, and that needs attention. I also wonder what is the significance of the sentence, properly cited, that the South African Air Force happened to see it one particular day. There is also a particular tanks destroyer batallion listed as among the passengers on a particular day. It too is properly cited. No other units are listed in the article, and it seems to be an out of place detail, especially for such a small unit. I believe these two details need deleting. I would like to see the inclusion of the incident in which the ship came under attack by German u-boats while carrying passengers of 2,000 children who were being evacuated from England to Canada. Your thoughts please.Horst59 (talk) 16:36, 11 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

These Foolish Things

[edit]

I believe this ship is also referenced in the lyrics to "These Foolish Things"; "the I'le de France with all the gulls around it" 96.230.19.39 (talk) 18:32, 30 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
