Displacement figures are from Erich Gröner's German Warships 1815-1945 and are essentially the same (cf full load displacment 8800 long tons vs 8799 long tons, which is probably a rounding error from the convert template). As for the sistership, of course Kaiser and Deutschland are sister ships - Conways and Sondhaus both refer to them as sister ships. I don't know where you got that idea. Please remove that silly tag. The confusion was all mine. There was a SMS Kaiser in the Astro-Hungarian navy as well, and it was also a center battery ship! I thought the article was about that one. There don't seem to be any articles on Wikipedia about any of those. See list on talk of Central battery ship. Have mörser, will travel (talk) 10:49, 20 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, yes, that Kaiser - she was significantly smaller than this Kaiser. That article should be at SMS Kaiser (1871) (which is can be confusing with this ship at 1874). If you want to work on that article I can lend you a hand with it. Parsecboy (talk) 11:16, 20 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure how much can be said about the individual Austrian casemate ships, as they didn't have much of a combat role. I wrote a paragraph in the central battery ship about all of them. If you could improve that article with the other countries (GB could be expanded, and France is completely missing), that would be nice. I thought the same about the German ironclads, but I have managed to write some half-way decent articles on them. You might be surprised what you can glean from old naval annuals and newspaper articles some times. I'll look at the central battery ship perhaps later tonight or tomorrow and see what I can add (unfortunately the copy of Sondhaus's Naval Warfare I had is back at the library, though).
