I was under the impression the S10 was generally released for selected civilian populations (particularly during the First Gulf War) and the SF10 was for for servicemen, particularly the SAS. The differences between the two, as far I as recall are the lack of the drinking tube on the SF10 and the ability to attach the 40mm filter on either side of the mask (to accommodate for left and right-handed users and their firearms).
Also an additional interesting note: there was a large number of S10s following the first Gulf War on the market (they still pop up on eBay occasionally) not only with blue, but also with red stripes on the single filter. These were S10s that were issued to selected British nationals in the Gulf region during the first conflict and many have since been sold. Conversely SF10 is fairly difficult to find, and costs more.

"in popular culture"
[edit]thinking of adding an in popular culture section on this page. my number one thought would be the use of it by UNIT and david tennant in doctor who series 4. it is visually obvious these are the same mask, but there are no citeable sources.
If anyone has any other ideas to go in this section or citeable sources for the david tennant one, please reply with them. DParkinson1 (talk) 13:16, 2 June 2023 (UTC)
