[edit]This page is not unambiguously promotional, because I just provided the citation from the Indian Parliament about this freedom fighter and member of the upper house of the Indian Parliament. I am a new contributor and learning how to provide a paragraph with citations for historians and others to use. Shri S. Venkataraman was an editor of a newspaper that was critical of the British rule in India and spent a total of 8 years in prison (two terms) for 'sedition against the British Empire'.
