AZ, do you have a public (non-pay barrier) source for the Ombusdman argument? Even if that was true, I don't feel some guy's "gut feeling" that just 800,000 people fit on Paulista is WP:RS, considering the PMs have released estimates in the millions for 2006's Marcha por Jesus and the Gay Pride parade.--Dali-Llama 03:50, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I thought all ombudsman articles were public. Anyway, instead of saying that just 800,000 people fit, we can say what are the dimensions of Paulista Avenue, which are verifiable, and also say that the Parade doesn't stay just in Paulista Avenue. I don't think there was a reason to remove the links, though. A.Z. 03:57, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I just removed them because they're behind a pay curtain, so there's no way for anyone else (other than Folha subscribers) to check it. I agree that the argument about the parade extending beyond Paulista is valid, but we need a source that says that, otherwise saying just "here are the dimensions of Paulista" and saying it disputes the number of people would be synthesis.--Dali-Llama 04:01, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
There's a version in English of the ombudsman article! I suppose that's public. It would make no sense if it weren't. A.Z. 04:02, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
That's a good source (even better in English). It still begs the question: there's no Datafolha estimate in that article, just some guy's. I'm afraid I wouldn't consider the opinion of a random guy writing a letter a reliable source for questioning the number of participants. If another newspaper or organization questioned the number, then absolutely. The ombusdman's issue, as I understood it,, wasn't with the number itself, but rather with Folha accepting the number without their own internal estimate.--Dali-Llama 04:14, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I added a reference with the Military Police of São Paulo quoted in Folha de São Paulo saying that the Avenue's capacity is one million people. A.Z. 03:13, 23 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Just read it. Looks good now.--Dali-Llama 06:39, 23 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
