I've reviewed the article, here is a quick overview of my findings.

A few comments from someone who’s going through the GA process myself to help you improve the article.

• Watch out for peacock words such as: famous, notoriously, shockingly, historic. Their specific use should be sourced or removed

• “by wrestling to 20- minute time limit draws” Do you mean “by wrestling two 20-minute time limit draws”?
  •  Not done "Wrestling to a draw" is a common phrase.
    • Yes but "wrestling to draws" is gramatically wrong it should either be "wrestling two draws" or "to two draws"
• YLC is used without being defined first – first time the “Young Lion’s Cup” is mentioned it should be “Young Lion’s Cup (YLC)” or it should be spelled out. Same with other abbriviations such as NJPW, CMLL, CTU etc.

• Taguchi continued to compete in CMLL throughout much of 2005, often teaming with fellow New Japan expeditioners Shinsuke Nakamura and Hiroshi Tanahashi, before returning to Japan on October 7, 2005 and wrestling his official return match on October 22, 2005, teaming with Masahito Kakihara to defeat Sangre Azteca & Hirooki Goto. – it’s a rather long, clunky sentence that combines his time in Mexico, his return to Japan and his Japanese debut – should be at least 2 separate sentences.

• The mention of what title defence it was for the defending challenger to me is a bit irrelevant in this article – it belongs in their articles sure but here it should really only be mentioned if it adds something to the article, as it stands now it’s almost like trivia.

• shot at the Junior Heavyweight title on July 6, 2007, again defeating the four-time champion to win his first singles championship. – by “again defeating” do you mean he beat the champion?? That Milano Collection AT was the champion? Unclear what the article is trying to say here

• A general concern that 29 out of 31 sources are from Strong Style Spirit and that they’re mainly match results, no coverage on Taguchi specifically only mentioned in results. It’d benefit greatly from more varied sources that also talk about the person and not the results.
  • I've added his official profile as a general source, but I don't really see the issue if everything in the article is reliable.
    • The thing is that's a reliable source for match results yes - but they're not about Taguchi as such, they're about the shows he's been on. I've seen articles that have been deleted for lack of notability because they did not have any secondary sources that were about the subject (the NJPW profile is a primary source since he works for them). Haven't there been any writing about Taguchi himself? Nothing beyond what matches he was in?? Nowhere??
• The article is written almost entirely “in universe”, by wrestling fans, for wrestling fans – for it to be a GA article readers need to be able to read the article without a very deep knowledge of wrestling. It presents everything “in kayfabe” basically. It’s not a Neutral Point of View in that regard.
  • I'm unclear as to how this should be done; could you be a bit more specific?
    • Well I guess to boil it down this article presents professional wrestling as 100% competitive, it's a "wrestling fan" profile, not an encylopedic entry.
• Since the article is about a person, please add {{persondata|PLEASE SEE [[WP:PDATA]]!}} along with the required parameters to the article - see Wikipedia:Persondata for more information.^[?]

• There are no pictures, it’s not an automatic reason for not granting GA but it’d be great if one could be found.
• The article only covers his professional career once he turned professional and before that just what sports he played. Are there no personal information on the guy? As it stands it’s not “Broad in coverage” as it’s really only about “Taguchi the wrestler” if you know what I mean?
  • I haven't found any notable information about him outside of his career.

• On December 27, 2003, Taguchi defeated Naofumi Yamamoto to gain a spot on the card for New Japan's annual Tokyo Dome show, Wrestling World;[8] at the event on January 4, 2004, which attracted 53,000 fans, Taguchi defeated Akiya Anzawa in under five minutes. Once again a really long sentence that brings two different things together (earning a spot and then the dome appearance) – also does the fact that there were 53,000 fans in attendance make a difference to the article or is it more trivia??

• a sort of “sequel” to the Young Lion Cup” – either it’s officially a sequel or it needs to be sourced that it’s considered a sequel.

• On January 6, 2005, Taguchi announced that he would be going on a learning excursion to Mexican promotion Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre, a common practice for young Japanese juniors, wrestling simply as Taguchi; he competed in two farewell matches in New Japan, losing to Wataru Inoue in the first and teaming with Taiji Ishimori to defeat Tiger Mask IV & El Samurai in the second. – Again a really long sentence as before. It should be split into the two different subjects it tries to put together.

• defeating another veteran-young lion duo in Wataru Inoue & Koji Kanemoto, – Should they not be listed in the “veteran-young lion” order then? Kanemoto & Inoue, to the uninitiated they’d think Inoue was the veteran.

• "&" ampersands generally should not be used, but if used then used consistently, so unless every "and" becomes a & (every single one) then it is not consistent. Thus it is best not to use it unless it is part of a formal name (see Tiffany & Co. for an example))

As you can see I’ve found some issues with the article, nothing that can’t be fixed though. I’ll keep an eye on the article and the progress and check back within the 7 day period this’ll be on hold and hopefully the issues will be addressed by then.MPJ-DK 14:03, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

Comments on the "no" votes that led to it failing

• 2a: It fails on sources as there aren’t any on Ryusuke Taguchi himself, only about the events he wrestled at technically failing the Notability criteria of Wikipedia.
• 3a: It fails on broad in coverage as it doesn’t cover all aspects only the wrestling part.
• 4a: It’s not ”Neutral Point of View” since you still haven’t sourced the use of the peacock words ”Legendary”, ”Notorious”, they are not supported by any source you’ve used.
• 4b: it doesn’t cover ”all significant views” it’s just the ”wrestling fan view” really, It’s written ”in character” like pro wrestling is 100% real
• 6b: Images, it’s not why I’m failing it but I’d be remissed if not putting it on the list

Sorry but right now I’ve got to fail the article, but feel free to address the concerns and re-submit the article.

Taguchi Japan article?

NIPW seems to have been treating Taguchi Japan as an actual stable lately as opposed to an unofficial partnership. Should there be an article for it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by The Kip (talk • contribs) 16:20, 13 April 2017 (UTC)
