Location of painting

[edit]

Just to note, the Wikidata entry says the painting is found at the Brauer Museum of Art, but the museum has been shut down due to the controversy and the painting is in a protected, undisclosed location, presumably awaiting sale. This could be a problem because most museum associations are protesting this action, and if they do go through with the sale in spite of the protests, it will be difficult for the museum to ever acquire a significant piece ever again. Because it appears that the university has destroyed the reputation of the museum at this point, it is unknown what will happen next. Viriditas (talk) 22:13, 24 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Georgia O'Keeffe Museum Collections Online

[edit]

Just to note to say that I found an error on the official website, so if someone from that organization sees this, they can adjust their site accordingly. To summarzie: The Georgia O'Keeffe Museum Collections Online forgot to include Rust Red Hills as part of the Georgia O'Keeffe An Exhibition of Oils, Watercolors and Drawings 1980 exhibition.[1] As one can see from the original catalog, it was catalog number 33 in the exhibition. Brauer himself writes about how he personally lent Rust Red Hills to the 1980 exhibition in the article "For Jack, Lover of Art and Advocate with a Heart" (2010). Preparatory sketch

[edit]

CR 1856 (Untitled (New Mexico Landscape), Beverly Spiral Sketchbook, 1929-1930), looks very much like a prepatory sketch for this painting, but there is no sourced commentary on this. Viriditas (talk) 21:49, 27 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
