The death toll for this disaster does not make sense. I did have to do some math on this, but in total, there was 826 people on board, unless one of those figures, of either the 756 crew and officers, or the 53 women and 17 children, is a typo. It then states that there were 826 casualties, which if there really was 826 casualties, would mean nobody survived. However, it is also stated that one sailor did survive, which would either a), mean that there were only 825 casualties or b), that there were 827 people on board. or the statement that there was a survivor is wrong.
I don't know what is true, but I do know that it's impossible for there to simultaneously be 826 occupants, 826 casualties, and 1 survivor. At least one of these figures has to be wrong, but I don't know which one is. PakistinianHurricane (talk) 15:41, 12 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
